Default Mystery Arcade Game - SOLVED! Game is Uniwar S

Over the weekend I picked up a new cocktail table for my dining room. One issue.... I have no idea what game it is. The price was right ($50 because the top glass was cracked) and it boots up without any issues. There isn't a title screen though and I can't seem to find a picture of it anywhere online.

The game itself is fun but incredibly difficult. It's similar to Galaga but not quite. The ship is different and on the second level (wave?) a wall appears behind your ship and when you destroy an enemy, a pink dot (like an ejected pilot) spirals down behind you and turns into a little man. If you don't shoot him before he lands behind you, he turns into a dude with a spear and attacks you from behind. So you're having to dodge the guys behind you as well as destroying the aliens in front of you.

Nearest thing I can find on KLOV is a hack of Galaxian labeled as "Galaxian Part 3".

Anyone have ANY idea what this game is?

Try "UniWar S" by the Japanese game maker IREM.

In fact, on a "list of games made by IREM" on Wikipedia, it says that it used "Galaxian hardware"

If this isn't exactly what you're looking for I found "Space Battle" by Shoei and "Space Bird" by Hoei (not kidding) to also be quite similar to your game.

    Space Battle:

Either way, I think it's some sort of knock-off or bootleg of Galaxian made by an obscure company.

I think Ryaan1234 has nailed it. It's probably a bootleg of one of those bootlegs. Galaxian boards were hacked to death, it's amazing how much different stuff can be run based off them.

I'll look into those a little later. Thanks guys! I knew someone would have an idea on this.

The whole lack of a title screen was killing me

That is a cool looking cocktail, and the price makes it even more sexy, Congrats!

What he said. Great deal, and sounds like a cool game.

My wife would make me pay bigtime if I brought another cab home, but at that price I'd have done it anyway!

Haha, that's why I love my husband. He's ok with having two different game rooms for the collection as well as a table in the dining room

I'm not a huge shooter fan so I probably won't play it much but I love having machines so that when friends come over they can relive their childhood

Thanks again guys, after looking a little closer I think it's UniWar S

Just to help you confirm, here's a youtube video of it:

I have no idea why yours has no title screen. I think it may be a bootleg of Uniwar S perhaps. Maybe it's a bootleg of a knock-off of a well-known game. Say that ten times fast.

    Mystery Solved!

While I was typing this post my husband figured out that the dip switches had been set incorrectly and because it was set on free play, the title screen wasn't appearing. Once he figured out the right order, the title screen appeared as did the Manufacturer's name (IREM).

Anyway, thanks guys! You helped solve the mystery of my stupid cheap game
