Best Famicom games?

Hey guys! I have a Sharp Twin Famicom coming from japan very soon and I am wondering what japan only Nintendo games I should look into. I like platformers, action/rpgs, and the like. Nothing with heavy japanese text that's required for game progression. Any thoughts?

Well, there's the obvious Mario Bros. 2, Akumajou Dracula (FDS version), and a few others I won't bother naming.

Also Bio-Miracle Bokutta Uta, Bio-Senshi Dan (a bit heavy Japanese but great game), Tower of Druaga, Dragon Buster, and Dragon Buster 2.

Also, unfortunatly my disk system will need a new belt and until I get that replaced I won't be buying any FDS games yet. So sad because there are SO many cool games for the FDS.

All 4 are are cart based games so they can be played even with a broken belt.

Rising Stuff either has it or can special order it for you.

So far my favorite "played on a Famicom" Famicom game is Majin Eiyuuden Wataru Gaiden. It's an action-RPG in the style of Zelda 2 but with an improved (imo) battle engine. There's some story, but it's not necessary to follow the story in order to get far in the game and have fun w/ it.

Ginga no Sannin is another good one, but I couldn't figure out how to save (it has a password system and I couldn't find where you get that password from).

Well, since your Sharp will have FDS and cart slots, I recommend the following:
Cart:
Mother
Fire Emblem
Fire Emblem Gaiden
Final Fantasy II
Final Fantasy III

FDS:
Ai Senshi Nikoru
Crystal Dragon
Metroid (You can SAVE, no passwords)

I would definitely recommend 'trying' this one somehow before shelling out $30-40 for it.

It's a pretty well done game (kinda Castlevania-ish) but it's short and BRUTALLY difficult. The controls are clumsy and your character is weak. You'll fly through the first stage but by the 2nd or 3rd stage the game bites your head off and poops in your neck.

Maybe I didn't give it enough time. I'm pretty good at old-school video games and still couldn't play this for more than 15 minutes without getting frustrated.

EDIT: And now I have the song stuck in my head. That's just great.

Yeah, Mother is on my list. I don't care if I need to learn Japanese to play it .
