    Default APF TV Fun problem.

I found one of these at a store for the whopping price of $2, and at that price I didn't expect it to work, which seemed to be appropriate.

It powers up, but it doesn't output video at all. Opened it up and repaired the frayed cable on the inside, but it still doesn't work. Any ideas on how to get it working?

Pong console, I have heard these were very popular back in the day. My mom had some variant or another. She's always reminding me how her TV funbox was no fun at all. If you have a multimeter, you should check to see if volts are even getting to the video line.

It might be the previous owner tried hooking it to a external psu. Mine fried on a external PSU. It would turn on but never displayed. Made funky noises too.

Yeah, I'll have to test it with my multimeter.

I just tested it, it appears to be fine other than when I test the main three-leg capacitor, I get a current on the left leg of the capacitor but none on the right leg. Also, it actually had the sounds of a game play through the speaker while I was measuring. Weird.

your talking about the voltage regulator, if power is coming in the left but not going out the right its gone.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. The regulator actually looks like it has a piece broken off of it. No current out the right leg.

Ah well. Into the trash it goes, I guess. Got to save the extra long video cord, though...

At least Pong systems are cheap.

    Fix it!

It isn't that hard to scrap a regulator out of something!

It's gone, but at least it only cost $2. And hey, I got a good RF cord for my Odyssey2, which would normally cost more than $2.
