I bought a nintendo DS lite the other day and it's great! It's so much better then the original DS. Anyone else make the switch?
I am not getting the DSI because I love the classic GBA games.

So, you bought a Nintendo DS, which is so much better than the Nintendo DS?
Anyways yes, the DS Lite is nice...
The DS Lite is crap compared to the original DS. The directional pad is so poorly made that most of the time when pressing diagonal it doesn't even react to both presses.
I would rather use the PSP Analog nub than the DS Lite directional pad. That's not really saying much because the analog nub isn't really bad, just the fact that there's not two of them.
I also made the switch when the Ds Lite came out. Better screen and lighter of course.
I love my DS Lite. Thank goodness my cousin broke the R button and decided to just give it to me and buy a new one for himself.
I am happy I have a DS Lite, mostly so I can play Guitar Hero (when I ever get it) and transfer Pokemon from the GBA games to Platinum. Otherwise, I would prefer to play my GBA games (except maybe for the GBA Pokemon games since I don't have to use the R Button at all) on my GBA SP so I have better control, since the buttons feel weird for GBA games, while feel good for DS games.
Not a big fan of the DS Lite, especially when compared to the regular DS and DSi. The L and R buttons really suck, and the D-pad isn't great.
I had the original DS when it came out, but I sold it a while back. I wasn't a big fan of the D-pad, but it wasn't terrible. I was considering getting a DS again, and would like to see some more feedback about the Lite.
Never went for the DS Lite, never saw a reason seriously. My blue DS does everything just fine. I plan on picking up a DS-i "eventually maybe" as well as a Wii "though i'm holding out for an HD version".
I have played with a DS Lite though and it's too flimsy for my liking and it houses GBA games in a very ugly fashion. Never saw a reason to get one at all as my original is fine and really I prefer the size of the them.
Maybe I'm not hardcore enough but I don't have a problem with the D-Pad on the DS Lite. In fact I was recently surprised with just how easy Gyruss (GBA Konami Arcade Advanced version) was to control with the DS Lite D-Pad.
IMO, the DS lite is way better than the original DS. I always disliked the design of the original DS, I always thought it was big and ugly and wasn't comfortable for me. I then tried the DS Lite and was instantly comfortable with it and still enjoy it to this day.

I like the D-Pad on the Lite. I don't like the L and R buttons (they like to wear out) and the Select and Start (pain to press. They were much better to press on the the old DS. They were larger and in a better location).
The original DS is way better for GBA playing. I can get a good handle and it is more comfortable in general for non-touchscreen games. Overall, the Lite is better due to being small enough to go in a pocket and the better screens.
However, playing GBA games on either DS is just too cumbersome compared to a Gameboy Micro. I guess if I was really desperate for both DS and GBA access and I could only take one portable, I would take the DS. But even the Lite is unnecessarily large and heavy for GBA playing.
I never owned a regular DS but have had two ds lites (sold em both) very sleek sexy improved design though I agree the dpad could be better. I'd love a DSi next but for now I use a gba micro and my various laptops
Originaly I had no plans to buy a DSlite. Was happy with the 2 old DS systems. After seeing the pokemon pearl/diamond LE version I couldnt resist. Funny but the brighter screen is so better I rarely touch either of the old 2 systems. No plans to get a DSi though. I dont d/l games and have no need for an extra camera. Untill games I want come out that make use of the system's hardware, I dont see that purchase coming any time soon.
The original DS is uncomfortable for me. My hands cramp up, especially for non-touchscreen games. The last time I played Sonic Rush, my right wrist started spasming. However, the DS Lite is even worse. It really hurts after playing for more than around 15 minutes.
The PSP is also very uncomfortable for me. The GBA SP too. Why can't they make an ergonomic handheld?
The original GBA was the most comfortable, although I didn't use it much. The GBASP is pretty good if you hold it the right way. The Micro can be tough with certain games, but once you know how to position yourself for the shoulder buttons, the light weight makes up for it.
It's been so long since I held an original Game Boy, but I don't recall ever having a comfort complaint.
The original GBA is the most comfortable portable ever, but more than that, far more comfortable than any controller(however, it's a handheld with only four buttons.)
The GBA SP may have a backlit screen, but the L and R buttons are crap and the buttons are smaller and spaced out. The select and start are in odd positions as well. The original DS isn't that bad to play GBA games on, but not as good as playing them on the original GBA or PSP.
I'd actually say the PSP is the best system to play GBA games on(other than the GBA obviously.) All other gaming handheld screens are 4:3 like a regular TV, where the GBA is 3:2. Since the PSP is 16:9, the GBA titles only have small black bars on the left and right because the system itself is semi widescreen.
The DS Lite's screens are a million times better than the original DS. It's been so long since I've played on the original DS to make a comparison for the D-Pads though. They can't be THAT different though, seems as I've never noticed it. DS games don't really require quick D-Pad combination movements anyway, so it shouldn't ever be a problem.
