Or has it just steadily gone up in price? Some copies are right up there with Panzer Dragoon Saga. Not long ago I was seeing copies go for $40. Was there a recent media spotlight on it or something?

"Oh my lord it's nutty, yup!"
I've yet to see it that high. In fact, all the Ebay completed listings are under $100, which is the price it was at last year. This game has actually gone down in price slightly. It's around the same at Amazon as well. Definitely not on par w/ PDS, tho for awhile that game was selling for $20~30 above $100, and in fact I saw one sell for $110 once on Ebay a few months ago.
You must be talking about Ebay Canada or something, b/c I'm looking at completed item listings and there isn't a Guadian Heroes listed for even $100.
Except, one day an item will go for an outrageous amount and the next it will go for nothing in identical condition. Ebay itself, especially given the fact that you can only access two weeks of completed auctions now is not a good indicator of value. Tracking Ebay auctions along with other non-Ebay sales over a period of a few years is a good indicator of value.
The problem w/ that idea, Bojay, is when people want to know what something is selling for now, not what it's "worth" over a few years. The market fluctuates all the time, which is what this topic is all about. However, I think with most items, you actually can get some idea of what it's "worth" by looking at completed auctions so long as there are enough of them. This game has been selling for around $100 for years. Looking at completed auctions right now shows that the price is a little down from that, but not by much, so you wouldn't be far off your estimate by using it.
I'd rather use Ebay than just pull numbers out of my ass, and until someone mentions a BETTER alternative to using Ebay, I'm going to say it's fairly decent for assessing the worth of a game.
www.videogamepricecharts.com? Seems a pretty reliable source. And according to it, GH has seen a small spike in price for past few months, though nothing outlandish.
I reject your reality and substitute it for one of my own!
Looking at completed listings it has been selling for around 60 to 90, which is the range I remember it being in for the last several years.
