R-Type Tactics II: Operation Bitter Chocolate (lol @ the subtitle) will be another turn-based strategy game, like Military Madness, Panzer General and Advance Wars, just like the first R-Type Tactics (R-Type Command in the U.S.) released in '07/'08, which was a spin-off of the classic side-scrolling space shmup.
The Japanese version is due to be released October 31, at both retail, and as a download. R-Type Tactics II will boast twice the number of units (200) as the first game. There will be downloadable content, also.
I hope Atlus picks this up for a North American release as R-Type Command 2, but there's no word on that. However, I'm sure it will, since every major R-Type game has been released in the U.S. and it wasn't until after the Japanese release of R-Type Tactics in late '07, that R-Type Command was announced for the U.S., which got released May '08, so I'm not worried about it, since Tactics II was only just announced this week in Japan.
R-Type Command is a GOOD game, for those who like slow, turn-based strategy games such as Nectaris / Military Madness.
While I would rather have a new R-Type shooter, (and really we just got an AMAZING remake of R-Type & R-Type II for Xbox Live Arcade with the release of R-Type Dimensions back in Feb), I will be looking forward to R-Type Tactics II and hopefully its release as R-Type Command 2.
