    Default Blinking Sega Saturn

    Hello,

Anyone has experienced with a "blinking" Sega Saturn? My Saturn is a model HST-3210 and has recently refused to start up. When I turn it on, all it does is blinks its green power LED.

    Any ideas? Thanks!

EDIT: The problem appears to be the power supply. I plugged in the power supply of a known working set and it worked!

    Hi, hope someone can advise.

Today I tried reading the voltage problematic SS power supply with a meter. Seems that it is not giving out the required 3.3V 5V and 9V. Instead when I have the probe on the pins, the voltage seems to be fluctuating. Could it be a regulator issue?

I had a Saturn with a bad PS that did the blinking thing too.

The Saturn uses a switch-mode power supply, so there aren't any regulators to check like a classic linear power supply. It's still repairable but you'll need to do component level troubleshooting.

Tx Fabombjoy. Unfortunately, I don't have component level repair know-how or the required equipment. I guess I will just have to make do with plugging a computer PSU into the SS like others have done. My only other question then is, how do I get the required 9V? Will I fry the SS circuit if I stick in a 12V from the PSU?

A cheesy way to rig it would be to use a 7809 on the pc PSU 12v line to get 9v.

Tx... I will guess that's a quick and dirty way to do it... short of plugging a 9V battery to the 9V pin! 8P
