While it's not in effect yet, it looks like soon Nintendo is going to be printing Pokemon cards that link with the Ruby / Sapphire games and will allow you to obtain the 100 or so Pokemon you can't get during the normal course of the game.

Nothing like shelling out $35 for a game and then another $30+ just to be able to unlock all the features. That's one of the beefs I have about Animal Crossing. They're not putting anything new in, just allowing you access to what's already there.
