It even includes Combat and Pac-Man! That alone makes it worth it!
Seriously, that thing better be sealed for that price.

Sadly, that woman who's selling it has the same mentality as most of the women who price things at the local thrifts. She has no clue whatsoever about what it is or it's rarity, so price it at something ridiculous and hope that there's a buyer who is just as stupid as she is.
I would really like to know what she is thinking. Atari was a household name in the '80s for a reason, it's because just about everyone had one. Does she really think this console is so incredibly rare she can charge the same price as a used car for it? And look, she thinks that Missile Command and PacMan are 'Hot'! Which means those are the only names she recognizes. Therefore, 'hot'.
This doesn't belong in Classic Gaming. This belongs in Everything Auctions.

Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

The lady lowered the price to $2000 and relisted it after it didn't sell. Now it's a bargain. I inquired as to why she's selling it for so much, and here is the response:
"1. Plz dont send a message me unless you have somthing positive to say.
2.You have No Idea What You are Talking about i would you sya they produces 10million in what the 80's thats over 20 years ago...
3.where are u gonna find one now and games no where
4. as for the price read a gamer magazine once in your life and get some brains
Plz and Ty "
1. i'm sure the email was neutral
2. I have 3 Ataris, and i got one of them for FREE from a neighbor with 15 or so games including ET and Ms Pac Man (HOT!)
3. See above, and...uhhh...ebay? plus i got three of the Star Wars Atari games for 5 bucks at a thrift store a couple weekends ago, with 2 of their manuals!
4. Ummm...i spent about 5 years reading Nintendopower (have almost all issues back to 2003, some as far as 1998/9 I'm sure you have done the same. I also had a year of GameInformer and GamePro, their classified ads section for GameStop had Ataris in there for 15 dollars (NES,SNES, and Genesis too!)
Btw, there is a thrift store down the street from me with another person who was trying to sell a musty old ROB for 40 dollars without the battery cover, no game, and no attachments even. Same with a powerglove, no sensors, for 22. Also was selling a copy of Coleco Donkey Kong (Atari 2600) for 15...got it at a flea for 5, which even i thought was a little high for an Atari title...Jackal for 15....MIB RC Pro Am for 10 (Which i got) and the promotional Star Fox 64 movie for 1 (thankfully, but still a bit steep for a 4 minute video) Also was selling a couple Quickshot joysticks and a NES Advantage for what im pretty sure isnt cheap, and the Advantage was missing the ball off the top... Idiots these days...The nerve of them...
EDIT - Just noticed the seller was from Alabama. Now, not to stereotype, I was born in Alabama myself, but comon, perhaps that would shed some light on the story (and her poorly worded reply) Who knows, maybe its some 16 year old orphan who now has to raise herself since her parents left her and her grandmother recently passed...(who the atari probably belonged to in the fast place ) i kid i kid.
but in all seriousness, where is the pacman? all i see is two defenders...
wow couldn't take the time to type atari in a search on ebay to find that there are thousands of them on their for far less than she is asking. Id have told her the truth that i've owned well over 200 atari games and several 2600s. I believe I also would have mentioned my general dislike for the auction.
I have an extra system laying around with easily twice that many games. I think I'll offer it to her for a mere $1000 so she can double her money on it.

Unless it has a copy of the highly coveted E.T. then it's not worth $2500. Maybe $1500 but definitely not $2500....unless she adds E.T. to it.

I got a response from the women:
"gold label"
At least she's offering free shipping. She could have inflated it in her imaginary currency too...to somethign like an extra $1000.

I think the lot of you are severely unanticipatory of the upcoming severe Atari shortage of '10. Are you prepared? I am!

I explained how the Heavy Sixer is probably worth like $200 at the most. I mentioned that if she doesn't want to waste money on listing fees it would be good to go down to $200 and see if a collector who really wants it buys it for that price. If it doesn't sell then go lower.
I also explained how the super rare Adventure Vision is only $1000 most of the time.
She said k ty. Like OK thank you for the tip.
