Default God of War Collection on PS3

    Wow.

Anybody who didn't play through the first two installments for whatever reason - here's another chance and a good reason to sit down and invest some time with Kratos:

(From Kotaku) Reworked versions of God of War and God of War II, featuring smoother graphics running at a faster frame rate, hit stores this holiday on a single Blu-ray disc, Sony Computer Entertainment announced this morning.

God of War Collection will feature both Playstation 2 games running at 1280 by 720 resolution and 60 frames a second. The collection, which will cost $40, will also include trophy support for the games.

"We are excited today to announce God of War Collection," said Scott Rohde, vice president, Worldwide Studios America. "Our fans spoke and we listened; thanks to our partnership with Bluepoint Games, fans and newcomers to the series can experience the epic God of War and God of War II saga in stunning 720p on PS3. This Blu-ray Disc compilation brings Kratos to PS3 even earlier than expected."

The collection comes just months before God of War III is scheduled to hit stores on March 2010 for the Playstation 3.

The idea of a Blu-ray collection of the two PS2 games, which sell used for about $35 total at Gamestop, first came to light in April when a survey leaked about the notion.

Sounds good to me. I've played through both multiple times so I'm not sure I'll go back for this package, but it sounds like a winner and a good deal for those who took a plunge on a PS3 recently.

    Cool.

Now, If we can get a Shadow Of Colossus/ICO pack in time for The Last Guardian...that might make me shit myself.

Hm...I was planning on getting these for the PS2, but with this coming out I may just wait until I get a PS3 and pick up this collection. Nice work Sony, this should sell well for you over the holiday season.

I picked up both 1 & 2 sometime around the beginning of the year, and began playing through the first game this past spring. I think I'd gotten to the Temple of The Oracle before I was distracted from the game a few months ago.

My memory card failed a few weeks ago, so I'll need to start over from the beginning when I resume play.

But I think God of War is great. It is truly the first game I've ever played where I really do feel like I AM the character, and I am more immersed in this game than any I've ever played. I can't wait to play through the whole thing and then on to God of War 2.

I'd absolutely recommend the collection to anyone I know that hasn't played the games yet and has a PS3.

I own the series but I'll still pick this up. The series owns.

Yeah same here. I never played the PS2 games but from watching my friend its gameplay seems to remind me of the PS2 Legacy of Kain games. Since I loved those I think I should get the PS3 version of these games.

Well certainly worthwhile if you haven't played them. It'll be interesting to see what sort of upgrade these will be...

Would like to see more of this with oither series...

Just a tad unnecessary. Never stopped anyone before, of course.

It looks like Sony is finally getting their shit together the last few weeks. The PS3 price drop, the slim, the PSPGo, and now this GOW collection, nice!!

Very cool. I had never gotten around to picking these up for the PS2, so I'll be looking forward to playing them in beautiful HD. Although $40 seems a little high initially for last-gen games... I'll probably just look for them on sale.

I'm not a big GOW fan, but I may have to pick this up.

I have both PS2 versions and a Japanese import verson of GOW 1. But this is an awesome series and now alot of PS3 owners who have never played it can get caught up with it. Hopefully they add more than just trophy support for gamers who have already played thru these.

I never played GoW, or most PS2 greats since it was mainly my brother's console, so I'll probably pick this up eventually. I still have a massive backcatalog of games that won't be played for a while. Still, both games of the series have been on my PS3 games I want since I got my PS3 (60 GB one so they have legitimacy on the list). I also wouldn't be surprised if Sony does more of these if the God of War pack proves successful. Maybe we will see the Jak and Daxter collection or the Sly Cooper collection.

And since no one has done it yet: ZoMG SONY KEEPS COPYING NINTENDO!!!! N1NTENDO MADE THE METROID PRIME TRILOGY AND NOW SONY MAKES GOD OF WAR COLLECTION. SONY SUXX000RSSS!!!!

(If anyone believes this to be a true statement, realize porting a game to a newer console with new features is not an original idea.)
    I have a sig?

A good move for Sony for those who cant play the games on their PS3 or dont have the series.

This is the most epic news that it would be awesome to see Kratos smile right about now.

I will have to pick this up once I get my PS3. I enjoyed GOW 1 and haven't played 2, but this two pack sounds like a good deal.
