    Unhappy CDX Problem

I have a small problem with a used CDX that I bought a couple of years ago: It won't play CD games. It plays Genesis games like a charm, but it just won't boot Sega CD games, it freezes at the planet screen, with or without a game it doesn't even show the Sega CD or the SEGA logos, and if I reset it, it just dies. It DOES however play music cds.
I read in an old thread (Link) that it could be the AC adapter causing trouble, I'm pretty sure I'm using the original one, but it has been opened and is not in very good shape, though...

Anyway, I'm not really hoping to fix it, but any advice will be aprecciated!

IIRC, the PSU is MK-4122 and with output DC 1.5A The 850mA Genesis 2 PSU (or even worse, a Genesis 3 PSU) can give problems playing CDs.

Now that I look at it, it's not that model. For starters, it's 10V, not 9V, but the man that sold it to me told me that it had been been working until not too long ago. Like I said, the adapter is not in a great shape, so maybe that has something to do with it.
