Default Another silly comment from Activison!

    http://kokugamer.com/2009/09/15/acti...-over-pricing/

Is it me or does Activison seem to love controversy now? Well they won't be getting a penny off me, never bought a GH game and never will (not a huge fan of it). A part of me really wants Courtney Love to succeed in sueing them now, might humble Activison a bit!

I have 2 Guitar Hero games and Rock Band.

Out of 3 guitars and 1 drum kit all have problems, whether it's a synch problem, button that jams or tilt star activation that doesn't work, all of them have problems.

It's true, i've spent around $300 in this stuff and here I sit with equipment that is faulty. Am I sick of it? Yes, very much so and i'm sure many others are as well.

This stuff is only worth picking up in bargain bins.

It's not silly because it's true. People are really doing that and don't realize it.

I only buy the games used so I don't have that problem. I avoid DLC because I don't get why Activision won't release a GOTY edition for World Tour or GH5 or something.

Eventually, people will get sick of it when the peripherals they buy are faulty and suck

Isn't this the same guy that said he would charge even more for games if he could?

Yep. Typical corporate type that thinks gamers are idiots and flush their money down the drain, yet buy $150,000 cars and $3,000 toilets.

Silly Activision, I only buy the Guitar Hero games when stores have started to clearance them out to make way for the next bi-yearly installment.

Kotick is a tool. I won't buy another Activision product. After having problems with the GH drumset, about 6 months old, Activision won't do anything about it. The don't provide any source of parts or any type of support if you're out of warrantee. I guess they expect you to buy another component. Activision needs a class action lawsuit brought against them for their business practices. I hope everybody reads the article and boycots Activision products.

You're not alone. At work we now refuse to buy all guitar and drums and now give away the instruments for free to anyone who buys a copy of Guitar Hero or Rock band. I had a PS3 copy of Guitar Hero World Tour with 2 guitars priced at $30 for a month and a half before it finally sold. I think Guitar Hero has now reached full saturation and will be a franchise of diminishing returns for Activision.

I've started buying GH games when they hit bargain basement, like $10-15. They just aren't worth more than that to me. Oh yea, I use the old Xplorers too. They're the cheapest "official" guitars, don't need batteries and they work on every GH/RB game just fine.

I don't see why everyone's whining about what he said, it's business. Of course they want to build sales on someone purchasing an initial installment. He essentially said what we all know. They give you the option to do more stuff with what you already bought. If you don't want to, then you don't have to. However obviously people do want to play more than one game and one set of songs with the guitar that came with their $100.00 starter bundle.

I will fully admit that the Guitar Hero franchise is very over saturated, especially as of late. Guitar Hero 5 pretty much came as a back to back release after Smash Hits, which was really just a rework to again try to catch up to the Rockband franchise. And then what's in the box, a voucher to get the next game free? Harmonix nailed how to go about adding additional content at about $2.00 a song with the track packs.

Companies wanting to make money off an installed base has been part of the industry since the start. YOU MEAN MAGNAVOX WANTS ME TO BUY A LIGHT RIFLE TO PLAY SHOOTING GAMES ON MY ODYSSEY?! If you don't want additional content and accessories, then don't buy them. Complaining about peripherals is so early 80's. I don't knock the guy for speaking frankly.

    You're missing the point.

They know it, you know it, but for the love of god, you don't say it. In Corporate America, you don't gloat publicly and being candid and frank is not appreciated. It's bad for business.

Exactly. Hit the nail on the head. Much like Kotick's 'Games should cost morez!' speech. I'm sure every company would like to be able to charge over $100 for every game if they could get away with it. But they certainly would never say it, it's bad for business.

    Really?
In this day and age, you don't think there's something kinda fucked up about what that man said?

but its true gamers are idiots with the ability to get cash , why not suck them dry for all there worth? the real fun part is you tell them you are and they (gamers) will complain but at the end of the day they must have Guitar hero 99 special limited edition. As a shareholder i want any of my companies to make as much money as possible so cant complain there.

i mean you can release hardware with 40% failure rate and instead of being boycotted people just buy a second one for backup. In what other t market does that happen cars? tvs? cameras? movies?

the analogy of corporate types buying $150k is wrong as they have money and easily can afford it. meanwhile a lot of gamers cant afford crap but they do what they have to to get the next hyped game.
