Default Game Freak's "Room of Doom"

It's not quite James-Rolfe scale (or whatever other people there are out there with outrageous collections, perhaps Joe Santulli) but it's pretty ok for a 16 year old kid

Here is my office. On the left monitor is my custom-made Video Game Database (in Microsoft Access) and on the right is RFGeneration

My programming books and general clutter:

Vinyls (Cassettes and CDs are packed away for the most part)

    Get the power! NINTENDO POWER!

GameInformers, Maximum PCs, GamePros, and Strategy Guides.

And now on to the room of doom

^trade bin, kinda iffy on the GG games though, and i dont have a saturn or GG yet with which to play those games.

Oh, and the LaserActive may be for sale in the near future, so keep on the lookout

finally, there's some stuff that hasn't gotten a photo op. That stuff, including my pokemon collection and nintendo memorabilia, can be found on my youtube profile (By clicking my siggie)

Pretty nice, is there anything you're collecting for specifically? IE specific consoles etc.

I'm going for a complete loose SNES collection (fat chance of that ever happening though!) I also grab any NES or n64 game i can find on the cheap in the wild

EDIT - Oh, I'm also trying to get and keep up to date with the AVGN's reviewed games, as well as collect as much Zelda stuff as I can

wow a while ago i was mad looking for one of those datasette's for my c64 and found one only 20 minutes away in a guys basement along with a monitor. What else goes with that datasette as i dont know if mine has all the necessary cables and whatnot.

It seems that a good amount of collectors on here also own LaserDisc players. Must be that appreciation of old technology. very nice room.

All i believe it came with is the loose cable inside that drawer (i left it out cause i didn't get the chance to clean it yet)

EDIT - it appears to be a simple RCA wire, like the same ones used for the TRS-80 CoCo2

Nice collection. How many games do you have thus far?

Also, a suggestion: keeping track of your games is a lot easier with collection software. I saw that you said you use a MS Access Database. I use GCStar -- check it out, you might like it.

I personnaly enjoy using MS Access. That way I can customize it to do virtually whatever I want, format it however I want, plus the basic structure (Visual BASIC) is like a combination of all sorts of syntax i've learned thus far in programming. It also feels accomplshing after buying a big lot and having added it to the database. I also use it as a ballpark estimate for value (i bounce it off the D P price guide.) Plus i generally dislike online guides, for fear they might go out of business or something.

Currently have 776 games, approximately (got a bunch of promos and demos though, which I wouldn't officially count)

Wow I wouldn't have guessed the number was that high. I guess I don't know what 776 games looks like.

I enjoyed looking through the pictures.

yeah, a good portion of it though is the Game Boy games, and then theres all those demos (about 50 demos and loose games) that I put in a zipper pack.

And then about 20-30 of the games aren't TECHNICALLY mine, they're scattered about the house as belonging to my brothers, but they end up circulating back to my room every week or so.

    Nice collection, Game Freak!

I wouldn't worry about the size of the collection. When I was 16 (and I'm sure most 16 year olds now) I didn't have that much of a collection.

I would have be excited to have a collection like that back then.

Looks good but I hope you've posted these to DP's sister site www.videogamecollectors.com for true posterity. Photos in a forum are for the birds.

776 games... will game number 777 be a Casino game? just kidding

I like to see a collection that has a little bit for everything than just a bunch of games for a couple systems. Way to go.

I wonder how many I will have after I trade in my bad games for better ones. Probably about 300-400 less which would put me around 1100-1200 or so. I've learned that quality over quantity is better when you don't have much space, and there are so many more good games I haven't bought yet that I'd rather have taking up that space.

If you see that bargain bin filled with cart-only commons, I think passing it up and saving money for the good pricier in demand titles or games for uncommon systems is a better option. I wish I told myself this sooner.

At least I'm scanning pictures of all my stuff I'm selling so I can still look at them. Being able to look at them was pretty much their purpose.

I'm a collector, but only to a certain extent.
Not as extreme as Rickstilwell though.[/quote]

Wow thats a nice collection. I really like the looks of the gameboy stuff for some reason. Not many people display their gameboy stuff so much.

I've been at it a few more years than you (age 20 now), but my collection is still only 338 games. 'course, I'm picky and tend to buy games one-at-a-time with box/manual, etc.

Where did you find all of these?
