Default Is there any reason to own an XBOX 360 memory card?

I'm hooked up to XBL so for having to download demos from the store kiosk is out of the question. Plus I have a 120 gb hard drive so there's probably no chance that I'm going to need any extra space and it's highly unlikely I'll need it to bring my profile to someone elses Xbox. Is there any need for it? I have it brand new and I don't want to open it because I could probably get a bit more if I decide to sell it.

There is really no reason to have an XBOX 360 memory card anymore. It was made when they still sold models that did not have HDD's.

Its good if you have multiple XBoxes in the same house and you dont want to do the account transfer every time which takes about 5 minutes.

If you trade in HDD for a bigger one or something and have some important oblivion saves or any game saves...boom. or for the people that don't have XBL that get a new xbox and want their GT back boom right there.

I have no friends so that's not an issue.

I have the 120 gb hdd, which is the current highest for sale (220? only in the modern warfare 2 package) AND I have the transfer kit. On top of all that, I don't download too much content.

I have one to back up important game saves, that way in case my files get lost/corrupted during transfer to a new HD, I still have them. I don't want to play throught Resident Evil 5 another 4-5 times, or unlock the characters again in Street Fighter 4 and such.

Everyone's wrong. The total point of having an XBox 360 memory card is the same as the reason that someone would have the nintendo power glove. So you can say...'hey, I got that.'

Last I checked, they are STILL going to continue to sell Arcade units, and none of those have HD's. They do have some internal memory, but its like 512MB. The arcade is the cheap unit and MS has no desire to drop the second sku yet.

They are best used for profile storage. Leaving the profile on the card allows for movement without having to constantly redownload a profile if you move it from one system to another (be it a friends system a second one in the house ect).
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

It's nice to store your EDF save on so you know if your harddrive dies you won't have to beat all those stages again.

All hard drives will die eventually, afterall.

Oh wow. My bad. I thought all models had HDD's now. Sorry about that.

My thoughts exactly. I don't have one, but I'll get one if I see it cheap. Why? cause it's neat.

ya basically they were used with the arcade models before hard drives were standard. or i guess you could transfer maps to friends xboxes with them, but the hd could do the same thing.

They are handy to use if you are trying to get a really hard achievement and don't want to start over from the hard drive. For example, if you are trying to get an achievement for beating a game without dying and the game has 10 levels, use a memory card to save at level 5(provided you haven't died yet). Then continue playing from the hard drive. If you die anytime within the next 5 levels you can always load up your memory card and start from level 5(or where ever you chose to save from) instead of level 1.

They are for homebrew and hacking. Or, that is, they will be when this sumbitch is cracked.

Umm, or has it been? I don't actually know. Someone give me the cliff's notes version of the PS3 and 360 hacking scene.

Next year Microsoft will be disabling the ability to use any kind of third party memory cards to slow this movement even further.

I didn't even think they made third party memory cards for the X360.

As for myself, I have sixteen 64MB MUs for my X360. Why? To archive all of my GTA IV, plus my TLaD and TBoGT, game saves for my FAQ. Plus a couple to mess around with Achievements for other X360 games I write on. And I may still need to get another for save archiving for TBoGT.
