Didn't someone come up with a way to replace that stupid 32X cable? I could've sworn someone posted a pinout so anyone could build their own replacement.

Here's what I got this evening:
Genesis:
Fatal Rewind (complete)
Super Thunder Blade (boxed)
$2.50 each
PlayStation:
Grudge Warriors (complete) - $2.50
Rayman (complete, Saturn-style longbox) - $5
PS2:
Ratchet & Clank (complete, non-GH) - $5
Gamecube:
NHL Hitz 20-02 (complete) - $1
Just connect corresponding pins from the Genny's out to the 32X's in, and you're good. Using this method, you don't even need a separate power supply for the 32X, just watch for overheating (mine seems to work fine).
It wouldn't be hard to build a replacement if those darn plugs were easier to find.
Not much this weekend:
Atari 7800 w/hookups and 2 controllers (not pictured) - $15
Same reason I see loose GameCubes and PSX units at my church's thrift, and the same reason why the guy didn't send any video cables with my Genesis+SMS eBay lot: The average person does not know which cables do what, or what they go with.
The same loose GCN sat on the counter at my church's thrift for months, then last week they taped a PSX RF adapter to it. Even when the plugs are distinct and easy to identify, the average person simply won't know the importance, so the cables get separated and lost. As easy as it is to hook up a TV and a DVD player, people still pay $80 for Best Buy to do it for them because they simply don't understand the color-coded wiring. If people weren't so intimidated by electronics, we'd find more 32X passthru cables.
Eh, today I went to the eastern part of town (Up in da hood, yo!) to the goodwill over there. On tuesdays and thursdays they have this "dock sale" thing where they open up the back area and let people swarm around there for merchandise. It's sorta like that "goodwill that sells by the pound" thing that people have discussed here before. I picked up two Sony 3-way speakers with GIANT (20 oz) magnets on them and a small Pioneer speaker for $1 a each. They don't have cabinets or anything but I hope I can sell them as replacement parts on eBay.
I went inside and to my suprise they had a TON of games. Though most of them were common/sports I picked up what you see in the picture for $0.99 each!!! You gotta love cheap game stuff. The only exception is Planscape Torment and Evolva, which I got at the Goodwill Computer Works for $4.00 and $2.00 respectively. Is Evolva any good? I picked it up cause it looks fun.
I visited a local antique shop and to my suprise they had this Sankyo pachinko machine for $35. It's a newer one with an LCD screen in the middle and girls in Las Vegas-y bunny costumes on the play field. It looked to be in nice shape. I'd probably buy this for resale. Is $35 a good deal?

Check my auctions here! I am in the business of finding off-beat things, including video game stuff!
View my collection!
I'm not too knowlegable on pachinko machines, but my local for-profit thrift has an older well-worn unit asking $100. I'm sure you could resell it for at least $35, just not sure how much higher it goes.
I've payed like ~ 240 $ for all 42 games (and 1 converter) so a little under 5$/item
Found something today without really looking too much for it. At a thrift where I was literally just killing 10 minutes waiting on the wife for lunch:
Midway's Greatest Arcade Hits v.1 (N64) - $4
I always grab any variation of Robotron since it's my favorite game of all time.

All I bought today was a Tiger Electronics Copycat, a sort of rip-off of Simon from the late '80s. I'm a sucker for old '80s electronic toys.
One thing that I found today but didn't buy was a Zaxxon arcade cabinet. $99.99, but missing the joystick. I don't have anywhere to put such a thing, and I'm not sure if I really want to play Zaxxon all that much. I'd love to collect arcade games, but just don't have the room for it. I might go back and buy it, I haven't decided. I'd love to start collecting arcade games, and I don't run across them too often in thrift stores.
Oh, and I came across a Crayon Shin-Chan stuffed plushie from Korea. Again, I didn't buy it since I could never get into that show. But still, pretty interesting to find in a thrift.

2 good Kijiji finds in one week....I think I'm about to jinx myself for the next year
But that being said, I grabbed this
all for $40
I didn't actually have a Coleco anymore, as my ex took it too.
Nice to have one back, and some good games to go with it!
(especially happy about Mr.Do, BC's Quest for Tires, and Artillery Duel)
Last Saturday I went garage saling and got:
Honeymoon in Vegas DVD Sealed- $1
Kung Pow! Enter the Fist DVD- .50
Almost Famous DVD- $1
The Wizard VHS- .50 (Already own it, but this was a Goodtimes re-release)

Twilight Zone: The Movie VHS Sealed- .25
Salem's Lot VHS Sealed- .25
NES Console Cleaner by Blockbuster- .22 (Paid in pennies lol)
PS1 Memory Card x24 and two N64 Mem Cards- $1

500th Post! December ?, 2010
Movies in Theatres I Have Last Seen
Fair Game: 4/5
Fighter, The: 4.5/5
Tamara Drewe: 4/5
Nice find with that Colecovision! Especially the trackball. I can't ever seem to find them in the wild around here. Plenty of Atari Expansion modules and a few steering wheels, but never a trackball. And why is it that every time there's a Colecovision find with the Atari adapter, it always comes with just as many Atari games as the Colecovision, if not more? That always seems odd to me. Unless they bought the Atari ones at closeout prices during the market crash.
GBA Fire Emblem (loose)-$2.99
Extras-The Complete First Season DVDs-$3.99
Both at Goodwill.
A few days ago I got me a 2GB SD card for $9, on sale at Costco.
Used it to put Homebrew on my Wii.
I've always assumed that this happens because most people who decided to spend the money on a Colecovision were people who already had an Atari 2600 to begin with and were ready for the "next generation" of gaming. That's how it was in my world. I only had 2 friends who had a Colecovision new and both of them graduated up from an Atari and ended up buying the adapter to play the old games with. Never made sense to me back then, as they still had the Atari in the closet so why not just pull it out to play those old games??
On another note, I never see ANY Colecovision hardware in the wild so I'd love to know where you haunt...

The same people who pay $80 for Best Buy to plug in their DVD player often have a thing about the number of electronics they hook up. If they would have to switch between an Atari and a Coleco, they'd spend the money on the adaptor to make one pay both. And then forget where the Atari's AC adaptor went.
