A few years ago I had gotten interested in finding a Colecovision, since I had bought the homebrew arcade port Spectar from Scott Huggins (another Dallas native) and I really wanted to play it. I ordered one from a guy at Atari Age that turns out didn't work. And then, for some reason, I started finding them in thrifts. A lot. I kept buying them cheap, get them home, and find that they were dead or glitchy. Finally, the fourth one I picked up, a boxed one, worked almost perfectly. After that I passed one up in a thrift, and then I never saw another one again. Once I found a good one, I no longer had to look for one and then the thrifts dried up. The same with Atari 7800s. I wanted a backup for my original, and then I came across heaps of them. I stopped buying them after the fifth one, and never found another one again. Weird how things work. Now if I can only get this weird power to help me find a Neo-Geo, an Amiga CD32, or a Sega CDX in the wild, I'd be really happy.
Me too! I luvvv these little things. Although I hope they don't go through the standard issue Namco roster. Dig-Dug or Pole Position is fine, but I really don't need a Rally-X ornament.
Today I went back to the thrift where a couple weeks ago I found three baggies filled with Intellivision cartridges, and luckily found another one I must have overlooked. Armor Battle, Major League Baseball, Loco-Motion, Boxing (white label), NASL Soccer, Triple Action, and Super Pro Football. Yes, another late release game I don't have! It was $2.92 for the bag, but happily today was half off day. Later I hit a Movie Trading Company store and bought Galactic Pinball for the Virtual Boy, loose, for $4.99.

didn't post earlier but on Saturday went to a few pawn shops/flea market and found nothing. Stopped at a Garage sale on a whim and found a
complete Boxed Atari Jaguar system with cybermorph for $5
So wasn't a total waste

Picked up Sonics Ultimate Genesis Collection for X360 in a trade. Its been a slow couple of months.
Vectrex - Cosmic Chasm (complete except for overlay sleeve) $15.00
Great game. I think I'm going to try to stick to complete only for buying Vectrex games. There seem to be some good deals to be had with a little patience.
I bought a CD with a bunch of demos for MobyGames.
...
I passed on an apparently CIB Nintendo Power Set (the one with the power pad) for $20. It was in great shape.
... How the hell could I smuggle something so large back into Mexico? I just couldn't think of a way to do it. So I had to leave it. Godfuckingdammit. ;_;
Just how tight are US customs that you can't take 25-year-old video game systems across the border? I can understand stuff like plants and agriculture, current DVDs and region-locked stuff, etc, but you would think that antiques and collectibles would be no problem.
Yeah, it's from eBay. Vectrex was misspelled in the auction title, I found it by looking through a seller's other auctions. Honestly the Vectrex stuff I've gotten off eBay has almost felt like finds in the wild. There's a lot of great stuff that slips through the cracks and quite a bit of random condition junk that sells for a bundle.
I have found two Vectrex games in the wild over the years, both loose cartridges. My copy of Rip Off sat in a crate of random CD's and games for over year at a flea market before the seller finally let me have it for $1.00 after I finally said "no one's going to buy this, you know no one's going to buy this." Can't remember how I came across my loose copy of Scramble but I'm pretty sure it was just in a random box at a flea market as well.

Gah.
If anything looks even remotely expensive, you can get slapped with fines. Especially if you don't have a receipt to prove it's not worth more than our mandated uh... legal import limit. Doubly so if it looks like you intend to resell it.
And flea market sellers don't give out receipts.
Purchased at GameStop:
DS:
Chrono Trigger (complete) - $17.99
This copy is from the first print run that includes the poster. Chrono Trigger is my third favorite game of all time (behind Super Metroid and Super Mario World), and it was only a matter of time until I picked this up.
I also bought some CDs for a buck each at a thrift. I posted a list in the CD purchases thread.
Today find from Craigslist - 4 console & 2 games for $20.

Sweet ScourDX!
99 cents each, I picked up 6 Japanese megadrive games. Strange to find these in Canada. Never seen them before. Can identify all but the bottom middle and bottom right one. Any value for these beyond what I paid you think?

Another decent find for me, including another Robotron for the collection:
America's Army: Rise of A Soldier (Xbox) - special edition $6
Dance Dance Revolution Konamix (PSX) - $2
Robotron 64 (N64) - loose $6
Probably not great steals as far as price goes, but I've been looking for AA for the Xbox forever, and the same goes for the Robotron so I just grabbed em.
