Default Nintendo 64DD -- what should I expect to pay?

I'm looking at getting a 64DD and the F-Zero disk as a gift. What should I expect to pay for one? What about that game?

The only reference I have is the current eBay auctions: $500 BIN for the DD and $1000 for a complete set of disks. I'm NOT paying that much.

What's the "reasonable" price range for these?

The game is reasonably priced - $20-30 or so. The system will probably run $150-200. That's if you poach one off of Yahoo Auctions, not ebay... $500 will easily get you the system + all the games minus Pro Golf Tour and Kyojin no Doshin 2, probably $350-400.

Wow, never knew the 64DD stuff was that cheap.

Too bad Yahoo Auctions is all in Japanese. Trying to get something off of there if you don't speak English is near impossible...

Hmmm, I wonder how much shipping and middleman fees would kill me. I'm not planning on getting one any time soon, but considering I got my PC Engine Duo-RX on Japan Yahoo for a great deal, I suppose I should look into it again whenever I intend to get a 64DD. Granted, I also got hooked up by a friend then and basically didn't have to pay middleman fees at all.

It can be (I got my 64DD and the seven common programs for $350 a few years back) but sellers on eBay are now tending to ramp the price up on the stuff sadly.

interesting. I'm really just looking at the F-Zero stuff for now. I'd gladly pay $200 for it and F-Zero if I could find one that cheap. Maybe i'll look at getting a yahoo auctions JP one through Carl in a month or so.

thanks a lot for the info guys -- you have no idea how glad I am that $500 isn't a great price.
