Default My Portable Gamecube - The NCube

    Highlights :
Case - Frankenmoded Datamax Kid's Delight
    Screen - Unmodded Zenith Psone
    Batteries - 14.8v 4700mAh Li-Polys
Controllers - Gamecube, Mini Gamecube, Wii Classic 3rd Party, Dreamcast Quantam Fighterpad

    Notes :
    1. Memory card relocated to top.
    2. Disc Drive relocated with ffc extensions.
    3. 2-way switch for running off batteries or wall.
    4. About 90 hours of work more or less.

    Well here it is :

Added a disc cover that I'm not 100% sure I am happy with. I may change it or even paint it.

Very nice. One thing I noticed that could be potentially odd is the c stick. Doesnt it interfere with your thumb when pressing buttons?

What about the L and R buttons? You didn't mention those.

While I understand why you didn't put a back cover on it, I'd still be stressed as hell. If I wanted to put the system down, I'd be worried about putting the disc on a flat surface. And I'm clumsy as hell, so I'd worry about dropping the thing.

Still, you sir are a mad scientist of the highest caliber and I applaud you for this awesome piece of handheld goodness.

I'm actually thinking about a way to make 4 posts for it to sit on. But I want to do it where it looks seamless and unobtrusive. We'll see

And thanks for the compliments everyone.

In the video he says he used a third party Wii controller; I imagine it was easier to just keep that configuration and deal with it rather than switch it to the conventional Gamecube format.

Yeesh, I hope he at least connected it so that it controls like a Gamecube controller.

    And default Gamecube layout is
    Y
    BAX

    Not
    Y
    BX
    A

This is one of the most asked questions. LOl

I changed it because I really didn't like the way the Gamecube controller was. I mean really, almost ALL other controllers for every other console has the button format that I used. I prefer it, and that's who I built it for. ME

Pretty awesome, but like others I find the lack of a back cover over the disc spinning part pretty scary lol. Seems like an accident waiting to happen.

I subscribed to you on youtube. Seems you made a N64 handheld too lol. Nice man.

I think I actually have figured out how to do the disc cover. I have a prototype working right now, just need to figure out if I paint it or leave it clear and how to mount it.

I'm curious as to why you didn't just use a larger memory card and put it internally. I mean, in addition to the open disc spot, it would make me uneasy to have something stick out like that.

Why do you plan on slamming it down on stuff?

Seriously that is exactly how it sticks out on the gamecube itself. I used the memory card slot from the gamecube exactly as-is , no modification.

I have never hit it on anything.
