3D Dot Game Heroes is a PS3-exclusive single player RPG published by From Software. It is expected to be released in Japan in November of 2009. A message was posted on Sony's twitter feed announcing their intention of bringing this title to North America.

Story


The Kingdom of Dotnia was a traditional 2D land, like any other typical RPG kingdom. One day, the King desired to reshape the land to attract more visitors, and using special technology, attempted to reshape the land into 3D - but something goes wrong.

The game's plot also involves a legendary swordsman who locked away an ancient demon using the power of six magic orbs, with the player controlling the grandchild of that swordsman.

Characters


The game features a number of playable characters, as well as an editor to allow for players to create their own. Default characters include:

• A prince
• A knight
• A scholar
• The main character from IREM's Spelunker series

Developed, but yeah, this is all over the place. I want to get it but will be waiting for it to drop in price as usual.

I've only picked up a few games on the PS3 for 39.99. Three of those were for release price, one of which was a huge mistake(SC4.) Since I still have games I've yet to complete for all systems, I don't have a reason to rush.

If I happen to finish the PS3 titles I've yet to finish before it drops price then I'll pick it up before a price drop but I've got both PSP and DS games to work on as well, so I don't really see it happening.

Interesting...Taking 8-bit graphics to another form of art. Gameplay is like Zelda. I wouldn't doubt if the developer take a lot of reference from Zelda game. I'll definitely buy them.

Just what I was hoping for. After Demon's Souls, I had an inkling that Atlus would be up for publishing more From Software.

Why the heck is the Spelunker guy in the game, though? o_O

The main character reminds me a lot of Loto from the original Dragon Quest (can you say copyright infringement?). Aside from that, this is a game I would buy as soon as it came out, but there is no way I am getting a PS3 for one game (please note I am not interested in your "aw, come on there are lots of reasons to own a PS3"...).

The whole game is like an exercise in copyright infringement. :P They went as far as they could with ripping off the original Zelda and Dragon Quest short of actually getting into trouble.

Japanese don't see copyright infringement as much as US. To Japanese, copying someone's work is a complement rather than stealing.

That's true. You can get away with a lot more in Japan. Although it must be okay even by American standards if Atlus sees fit to bring it out over here.

The trailer's piqued my interest, but I'd want to read some reviews on how it actually plays before I picked it up. 40 bucks is a lot for just the style if there's no gameplay to back it up.

To show off the simulated fall distance mechanic. Then again, I'm one of the few people that actually liked Spelunker so it's cool with me.

I remember that popstar who used the Tifa Advent Children scene got sued by Squaresoft. Or they could have sued and also thought. "Nice compliment ^_^."

I'm all for helping the developer but I've always been a fan of whatever strange RPGs and Action RPGs Atlus drags over here.

At one point in the past I was all about Square, then I moved to Enix, and now I'm all about Atlus.

From Software has really been putting out some awesome stuff lately...Ninja Blade, then Demon's Souls, now 3D Dot Game Heroes....definitely making them one of my top companies to watch releases from!

From Software has always been making awesome games, if you ask me. It makes me really happy that they're finally getting some real attention and love in the West. I just hope they got a next-gen King's Field in the works.

I'm one who's hoping that the Armored Core games start becoming more popular. I'd always like to play a good Armored Core player and wish there were more of them.

You're kidding, right? Next to Dynasty Warriors, Armored Core is probably the most over released series in the history gaming. There are multiple games on the PSOne, PS2 and 360/PS3, all of which are only slightly different from one another.
