I think the majority of us are guilty of that a little bit. I certainly didn't buy Mario Kart for the single player but then I also have games that bore my friends senseless. Of course I have the decency not to play them in front of them.

I have yet to get into Genesis games, but I did just buy a Gen Mobile unit, so hopefully, I'll get into the genesis then. I did buy about 60 games from the goodwill not too long ago and have not really played them.

The only time I could see big sprites as a problem would be in action games where the camera control is poor. Such as Earthworm Jim, Aladdin or Vectorman.

I think the MD games were more polished in a few select genres, namely Run & Guns, Shooters and Action Platformers. If you're into RPGs then you might want to check out the Sega CD.

madden 91 through 94 had inferior sound, music and overall presentation on the genny but the player models looked way better(more polished i guess) and they played so much smoother and faster that after years of genny madden its hard for me to play them on the snes, as far as 95 to 98 the two ports offset each other in different ways but the genny ports still had the better looking player sprites so chalk another genre up for the md baby!!!

p.s. i love rediculously large disproportionate sprites such as those used in bill walsh college football(md), art of fighting(or most other snk games), final fight, etc etc. its one of the things that draws me to 2-d games if you really want realism move on up to 32 or 128 bit games

I sort of "overshot" the Genny. I bought one for the sole purpose of getting a Sega CD and playing Snatcher (which I have gotten but haven't finished yet). I've also gotten the 32X (to play Night Trap an much more fun game than I expected it to be). If I bothered to find them, I could count the number of actual Genesis games I have on one, maybe two hands. I dig Golden Axe and Ghouls and Goblins (am I even naming that one correctly?) but I've admittedly not spent a hell of a lot of time digging into the Genny library.

I will say that I see a lot more 'chatter' for the NES and the SNES featuring games that I'm interested in playing than I do hear of for the Genesis. However there was a wonderful site that took each game released for the system and talked about them in the order of the year they were released. Sadly, I've lost my bookmark for it and can no longer find the site. If anyone knows what I'm talking about I'd appreciate a link. Thanks in advance.
