We haven't had a lot of snow around here, but we did get a 3-day nor'easter last month in which all school and work was closed due to extreme downtown flooding. During that time, all I played was Pokemon and SNES games - Pokemon SoulSilver, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, Chrono Trigger, and a whole slew of SFC games.

Play the SNES remake since it's recently had a fan translation. Amazing graphics on an already amazing game. Some of the best graphics on the SNES easily. I need to go through one tower to get one more item before I can go take on Zoma.

    10) If all else fails... RPG Maker!!!
Which RPG Maker? 2k? If you use the console RPG Maker titles, try out RPG Maker 2. The amount of content is huge and you can design an RPG any way you like. Of course, using the game means you have to have a masters degree in game design because it's ridiculously hard to use. You can make a pretty large game though.

RPG Maker 3 is easier to make a really good looking RPG. Better looking graphically, but the amount of content and customization is a joke in comparison to RPG Maker 2. Obviously none have anything on RPG Maker 2k, but if you want a 3d RPG Maker title.

I was talking console-only, english-language only, so I meant the PSX RPG Maker. I've tried all three US-released RPG Maker games and I like the first one the best. The second one is certainly deeper, but I fear I'm too stupid to figure it out, and plus the game you can play on it looks so awful, I dunno but the way the graphics move was giving me sea-sickness. So I realized that if I knuckled down and learned how to make a game in RPG Maker 2, it would be unplayable regardless. RPG Maker 3 has the least amount of customization and some of the stuff you can do I couldn't really figure out (land building, basically, plus for some reason I'd make something one way and it wouldn't do it, but it's been awhile so I can't explain better than that, it had to do w/ land building tho and I think making rivers and stuff?). So I stick to the first RPG Maker even tho you have to either design a very small RPG or use a lot of memory cards.

It really isn't just a "whats your favorite game list" For instance unfortnately I got called in to work...but imagine if you got snowed in and unexpectedly you didn't have to go anywhere,...your job, school, whatever....With snow storms and depending on what state you live....you never know sometimes what your itinerary for that day might be...things can get cancelled...etc...So here you are STUCK inside with all the time in the world,,,,this is why it is diffferent!

I loved playing Legend of Zelda back in the day when school was canceled for snow.

I did in fact get snowed in this weekend (Baltimore) so I did IN FACT have to occupy myself with games. My sequence went something like this:

    NiGHTS
    Chrono Trigger
    Kenseiden
    Space Harrier

It was especially nice to game by an open window and glance out at the white, deserted world.

It's not just a top 10...like books, some games just go better with certain weather. It's mostly rain out here in the Bay Area, but when it is cold and rainy I am partial to these four in particular:

    Alien 3 (Genesis version)
    Rolling Thunder 2 (Genesis again)
    Shen Mue
Phantasy Star Online (Original Dreamcast version...solo...I know, weird)

All Sega...hrm. An unmentioned fifth is almost any RPG (dark n' gloomy is good...Persona then?). Something you need to sort of get your couch ass comfortable with, open the window but turn out the lights and settle in.
