Looking for some shooters to play for the neo I got this christmas , any suggestions? I got a mvs convertor so I wouldn't have to worry much about the price of games. Already got last resort and enjoying that.

U GAIZ JUST DONT LIKE CHANGE , (builds a artificial foundation here)
Blazing Star and Pulstar, hands down, absolutely amazing spaceship shooters. Zed Blade's not too bad either.
ShocktTroopers (?) 1 and 2 are like 2 player Mercs, but more chibi like art.
Prehistoric Isle 2 is good, but sometimes hard to tell where stuff is on screen.
I really enjoy Pulstar, Aero Fighters 2/3 (aka Sonic Wings), Blazing Star, and Strikers 1945 Plus.
Honestly I'd say all the shooters on the Neo Geo are pretty good, the only one I'd recommend anyone stay away from is Ghost Pilots.. But I think even that game has some old school charm to it.
Aerofighters/Sonic Wings 2, if you like Psikyo games as much as I do.
And you're going to be paying $60-100 for the good MVS shmups. Just try some out in an emulator first.
Sonic Wings 3 is an excellent game with lots of diversity (branching paths) and many ship types to choose from. There is an odd element of randomness regarding end game bosses but otherwise the scoring is there if you have the time. Personally, it's probably the best all-around shooter on Neo-Geo and one where it gets to the point, which I quite like.
Aero Fighters 2 is possibly more challenging but it's a bit of a step backwards from SW3. Still a great game though. I would probably say for the longest time Strikers Plus was the best but SW3 just has that something extra and is overall far more accesible. Plus is nice reworking of Strikers 1 & 2 with more Cave-like slow bullet formations as opposed to the normal 100% fast Psikyo fare. It's a nice change and definitely full of challenge. Cannot really go wrong here.
I cannot stand Blazing Star, since I dislike the scoring system, but Pulstar is not bad if you're keen on R-Type and the like. There's also the Prehistoric Isle games, also by Yumekubo (Blazing Star), which might be better but I've spent very little time in those.
As is discussed elsewhere, it really depends on what type of shooters you like. There is of course the very memory hard Last Hope which came out recently as well so there isn't a lack of variety but it's best to see which games fit your idea of a fun game.
Whaddya mean invalid parameters?!
9,000 gigs of ram and it still can't answer a simple question!
ViewPoint:Tough as nails but man what a sweet sound track

Twinklestar Sprites:Sure a 1p match isn't much but man it's fun when it's 2p.

Last Resort:One of the best early shooters on the neo though you have to beat it twice to get the ending.

Viewpoint is pretty awesome, and my friend and I have pumped so many quarters over the years into Aero Fighters 2. Both of those are definitely worth checking out. I enjoyed Pulstar and Blazing Star, though they're all tough as nails. I actually really liked Andro Dunos too, I thought it was a fun old school shooter...though that is not a common opinion.
Check out the Kleppings!
Make Way For Madness!

Infinite Lives
Last Resort is a fun R-Type style game. For shmups of the vertical variety, Sonic Wings 2/Aero Fighters 2 is tough to beat.
great recommendations here-enjoy the new neo geo! I miss mine so much!
Really all of them are at least worth considering...
Ghost Pilots (probably the weakest one on the system but not terrible)
Sonic Wings/Aero Fighters 2 (awesome games, both of them!)
Sonic Wings/Aero Fighters 3
Viewpoint (so hard, but so good...)
Andro Dunos (early)
Alpha Mission II/ASO II: The Last Guardian (also early, but decent I think)
Strikers 1945 Plus (horizontal-monitor Strikers... good stuff)
Last Resort
Pulstar (R-Type clone from some of the people who made R-Type)
Blazing Star (probably my favorite Neo-Geo shmup, Pulstar's sequel but with a bunch of ships to choose from, not just the R-Type like one from the first game)
Twinkle Star Sprites (great co-op shmup, recommended)
Prehistoric Isle 2 (okay game, but not my favorite one on the system)
Ninja Commando isn't auto-scrolling, but other than that is pretty close to being a shmup. Decent game.
Of course in run&guns and such the system has more, such as the Metal Slug series, the two Shock Troopers games, Top Hunter, Cyber Lip, etc, all of which are awesome, but those aren't shmups.
Oh, and of course there's Ironclad, the Neo-Geo CD exclusive shmup.
