Default Just accidentally got my 2-year-old hooked on PS3.

I make it a point not to play video games in front of my kids. Not that I'm against other parents letting younger kids play or anything, I just don't think mine are ready yet.

Anyways, my wife was watching our kids this weekend in another part of the house, and thinking I had a few minutes, I fire up Flower up on the PS3... and in strolls my 2-year-old daughter. She's all "what you doing?" in that cute toddler speak, and feeling a bit like a teenager busted with porn, I regrettably tell her I'm watching a movie. She sits down next to me, intensely interested in what I'm holding, and starts asking lots of questions... what's that, can I play it, etc.

Against my better judgement, I showed her how to play, since its a simple game, has one button, and you can't die. She loves it. She doesn't do anything but wiggle the controller going back and forth, flying aimlessly, but its great fun, and I'm actually kind of impressed she picked it up so quickly. I never considered the PS3's motion controls all that intuitive.

Since its the new hotness, she asks to play all the time. My wife is pissed. I kinda think its cool that there are there modern games that a 2-year-old can actually play with ease (considering all the complaints from Nintendo and the like about complex controllers).

In that "proud dad" sense, I'm happy to see she thinks games are pretty neat.

Sorry for the semi-long post, but I just had to share this little bit of unexpected gaming goodness from the holiday weekend. :-)

I had that for a while with my nephews. Every time they came over they wanted to play whatever system I had set up. Now that they have their own and the years have gone on, they're starting to get as good as and, in some cases, better than me. They grow up so fast...

I got my seven year old sister hooked on Peggle earlier this year--she's about a million times better than me at it.

On a similar note, my 17 year old sister learned how to use two analog sticks for the first time this Christmas break and we played some Gears of War 2.

I'm so proud of them both =)
