The only reason they are adding the non-Sonic characters is so they can reach a broader audience. This is probably going to be a sad flaunting of some of the characters they toyed with before the end of the golden era in Segas existance.

I agree too many are from Sonic games, but adding Alex Kidd, Ryo Hazuki, and the character from Super Monkey Ball are nice editions. However, many are left out, like Opa-Opa, Space Harrier, Zillion and Phantasy Star characters, or even Wonder Boy. Even still, it's a step in the right direction.
No Jacky Bryant, either, and he's a RACECAR DRIVER ffs.
Too bad the average gamer has no idea what the Master System was, hence they will not care about Sega's 80's characters.
That's true. They were 8, 32, and 128-bit, respectively.
I'd buy TEN!
Don't forget the MUSIC!
"Can you seeeeeee, the sun is shining on meeeeeee, it makes me feel so freeeeeee, so aliiiiive, it makes me want to surviiiiiiiiive..."
I probably won't touch it, but it still piques my interest by inclusion of Ryo Hazuki- no doubt he'll be on his motorcycle. Could Lan Di driving the infamous black car be an unlockable?
Also, I second the notion that Sumo makes the awesomely fun OutRun2 and should be given a chance with this.
But still... ya gotta wonder.
Considering that the Master System gave Nintendo a run for their money in Europe in the 1980s, I doubt that statement can be considered universally correct. Also considering the proliferation of emulation and retro games, worldwide knowledge of the Sega Master System is considerably higher now.

Yeah. It's worth pointing out that Sumo Digital (who's making this game) is located in the UK. Plus, these games tend to do better in Europe (see: Sega Superstars Tennis). Since Sega had the greatest popularity in Europe "back in the day", any new "Sega nostalgia" game is going to be produced with an eye on the European market, as it offers their best chance of success for the new game. This game is most likely being developed in Europe with the European market in mind, and the US release is secondary (and it may not even get released in Japan).
Yeah.
I posted earlier that the game was being done by Sumo.
I agree that with Sumo doing it, it should be an awesome racer.
Seriously kids, you have not even played the game and are already hating on it. Hahahaha. I heard Metal Gear Solid 5 was going to suck. I have not played it or even seen a screenshot, but it is going to suck. Yeah, I know that sounds bad, now imagine somebody who sees this game for the game it is (talking about Sega All-Stars) having to hear the same thing about Sega All-Stars. Don't just up and write it off if you have not played it.
Play the game before you throw up your anti-Sega brick wall to hate on it.
The newer Outrun games are very fun and awesome. Sumo is the brains behind the newer OutRun games, so them working on a Sega All-Stars racing game I will have high hopes for it. Sumo has already shown that they can make a very good and very fun racing game

All Sumo did was port Outrun 2 and it's expanded sequel, so I wouldn't call them the brains behind them. Sega-AM2 are the group responsible for both games.
Also, F1 2009 and Dirt 2 for the Wii/PSP were both developed by Sumo Digital for Codemasters and haven't been recieved very well.
Still, the job they did in porting recent Outrun titles and remaking GTI Club+ leaves me optimistic this will be a fun arcade racer.

Have you played Perfect Dark Zero?
I was getting this the moment they brought out the Ryo Hazuki video. That was so awesome - him on the motorcycle and, of course, the forklift truck!
And then later I hear this is being made by Sumo Digital! Awesome. I loved their ports of OutRun. I have OutRun 2 on the Xbox, 2006 on the PS2 and Online Arcade on the 360 and they all provide good experiences. I also like their port of GTI Club on the PS3. So they know how to make a racer so should be good fun. Here's hoping for some crazy drifting.
Some of the hidden characters got leaked, mass spoilers ahead of course:

And don't bring up that stupid girlie Aladdin rip off! Shantea?
