Batman Arkham City
I was just scrolling through games on Amazon and then. Boom. Arkham Asylum 2 wtf? So I just Googled it and yeah. It was announced on 12/2009 they're making an Arkham Asylum 2.
Anyways. Seeing as I'm a fan of Batman and the first Arkham Asylum was one of my favorite games on PS360, I'm interested in seeing how this one goes. Arkham Asylum 2 probably isn't its official name, but yeah.

Day one
With how well the game sold and how much critical praise it got, I wasn't surprised at all when they announced the sequel last month. What really gets me excited is that Two-Face is said to be in the game this time around, who for whatever reason was missing in the last game.

that DLC is upgraded to part 2. There was DLC planned and the game sold good so...
I thought he was missing because he had escaped prior to events in the game. I know that *spoiler* At the end of the game, Batman gets a call that Two Face is robbing a bank in town and Batman flies off in the batwing from the asylum to confront him So I suppose it could work out that way not to mention all of the inmates who are missing from their cells and are not featured in the game. I know I'd really like more Scarecrow as he was probably one of my favorite characters in the first.Originally Posted by exit
Agreed. Being the giant Batman nerd I am, I'm totally geeked for this. I really hope it's more of a sandbox type game. I want to be able to drive the Batmobile and scale the buildings of Gotham City. But if not I'm sure I'll love it either way.

Someone found a secret room on Arkham Asylum detailing the next Batman. The room can't be found with detective mode. Anyways. There's new info that Quincy Sharp bought a portion of Gotham City and closed it off since Arkham Asylum and Blackgate are destroyed/under construction which is why the game is being called Arkham City. So that's probably why we see the psychiatric ward and penitentiary labeled. According to the developers we're not going to be seeing this game until next year.

A rather profound thought occurred to me as I was collecting Riddler Trophies last night regarding prisoner containment.
This "prison" is on a coastline.
Like, 1/3 of Arkham City is on the docks ... and there are boats on the docks.
That .... doesn't, seem very ... secure to me.

No one in Gotham can swim, not even Batman. Duh!
Well, there are a few police boats here and there, they can probably move faster than a swimming inmate or a slowly drifting freighter. Besides, look how far it is from the coast to the anything that isn't Arkham City. I'd take forever by slow ass boat and be impossible to swim. Especially when you toss in the fact that the temperature is so low and the inmates have no decent food or cold weather wear.
I suppose, a bit of Alcatraz going on, but still, in a world where super villains congregate, I'm sure that they could have chartered some type of stealth party cruise liner and booked their way out seaward.

That's the thing, though. You'd think the whole super villain running amok thing might lead one or two of them to say "Let's super villain our asses out of here, yeah?" But they all seem content to just putter about and attempt to gain control of the city (apart from what is indicated during the none standard game over mentioned a few posts back).
It's why Batman has to keep fighting the same villans on a regular basis, they keep getting out.

Loveitloveitloveit. Getting all the Riddler secrets to catch ol' Eddie felt kind of arduous, but everything else in the main story was quite all right. I wouldn't have minded having a story-driven mini campaign for Robin and Nightwing, though. Maybe in the next game *fingers crossed*
