    Default Classic Gaming Dreams

In the context of Classic Gaming, if you had one wish/dream, what would it be? For example, Sega was successful with the Dreamcast and was still in the hardware industry, or something of that sort.

For me, I wish that Nintendo would release a console that was fully backwards compatible with everything they have ever put out. So a Wii-N64-SNES-NES-Virtual Boy-Gameboy/Pocket/Color/Advance-DS!!!! 8D *drools*

    XD What about you guys?!

I can think of a lot of wishes of things that could have been or could be.. Right now I'd say I wish Sega would have actually bothered to release their Super Game Boy competitor device for Game Gear games. With all the crazy crap they were putting out in the early to mid 90s you really think that one would have made it out the door.

I wish that sprite-based games weren't a dying art form. A lot of popular game genres from my youth have all but disappeared because they "don't work in 3D." If they don't work in 3D, why not just make them look absolutely amazing in two dimensions? I'd still buy them.

Yeah, definitely wish console gaming still had 2D games made for it. Wish that RPGs weren't all going the way of being action-RPGs. Wish the Dreamcast had succeeded. Wish there had been more RPGs on the Saturn here in the US. Wish Sega would make a sequel to Phantasy Star IV... and translate the PS2 Sega Ages Phantasy Star games... Wish the Turbo Grafx had been a huge success back in the day so NEC would still be making consoles... I guess if I had one wish I'd wish for more wishes. XD

That Alex Kidd and Opa-Opa remained Sega mascots.

    Default Wishes

Far East of Eden (RPG) in any form/system actually got translated and came out.

Phantasy Star (I, II, III, IV) Sega Ages got translated and released.

Sega was still in the console business.

All video games are $10 or less.

Be careful what you wish for. Sure, some rare and expensive games wouldn't be so expensive (because they're awful), but the rarity of other games would shoot up since few would want to sell Panzer Dragoon Saga, Radiant Silvergun or Dicing Knight for $10 a pop (just as examples).

I wish Hudson would release a new console thats as kick ass as the PS3 but still plays all the PC-Engine stuff. I want a machine that is designed purely for eye candy addicting arcade games. It will come with a pack-in vertical shmup that has optional 3D glasses mode, and so much crap on screen you think you're having a seizure.

and comes with a sweet air zonk helmet.

It will be called The Hudson Bee Hive, and will be bright yellow with a futuristic honeycomb shape, and the Bee on it. You will have access to tons of awesome downloadable games.

You know, a GOOD 3D video game set-up would be pretty sweet. Something in COLOR (not just red and black), and some decent games sounds pretty awesome.

Hudson never made any game consoles. NEC made the Turbografx.

better stick to being an SNES expert.

Hudson developed the stuff. The CPU ain't called a HuC6280 for nothing.

-Sega had stayed in the console business
-Camelot had continued to develop shining titles, with SF III's 3 scenairo's seeing an English release
    - Skies of Arcadia/Chrono Trigger would see a new sequel.

Agreed. The Super Game Boy and the Game Boy Player were two of the greatest devices that Nintendo developed. I've often felt what a shame it was that Sega didn't release something similar that allowed Game Gear games to be played on the Genesis (or any other of their consoles). Missed opportunities.

too bad the gamegear didnt just have composite out!

did they maybe not release the thing because the gamegear was already color/backlit and didn't offer as much incentive to own as the super gameboy?

    - Definitely wish 2D sprite based games weren't going extinct. But then I'm always getting mad that these days they focus only on graphics but the fun factor comes last.

    - I wish Earthbound 64 would have been completed and released in America.

    - For that matter I wish there were more RPGs on N64

    - I'm new to the Dreamcast, but I too wish it would have succeeded.

    - I wish Geno from Super Mario RPG would have more appearances.

    - I'm not sure if this counts, but I wish Rare and Nintendo were still together.

    - I wish there were more installments in the Donkey Kong Country series. I consider DK64 to be the fourth one, but dang it I want a fifth.

    I wish that:

-Sonic X-Treme was finished and released.
-That the Saturn was a successful console.
-That SEGA was still in the hardware business.
-That there were more 2D games and less 3D ones.
-That Konami made another installment in the Ninja Turtles beat-em-up franchise.
