    you beat me to it!

I'm kind of confused though. I thought this was Tony Meola's Sidekick Soccer in the US...that has US tags...Super Copa was the spanish version I thought, yet that says USA. Is it actually the spanish version? Also, the DP rarity guide says:

Foreign language soccer game, you have your choice of Portuguese or Spanish on the title screen. The cart we've got also has a small hole in the upper right corner on both the front and back so you can see right through the cart. Strange.

I don't see a hole though...don't take this as me saying it's bootleg, but what the hell? I'm so confused!

Did it see a super limited US release as Super Copa before changing it?

Super Copa is an NTSC game and was never released in Spain. The price guide is wrong on this one.

This game was released in North America, possibly only Mexico. There is a Brazilian Playtronics release, but that cart and box has different artwork. It's in the same group as ISS and ISSD.

This copy is 100% legit, and one of the nicest I've seen.

I hear you, but for those who don't know, games were released by region during this time period. Anything released in North America, whether in the US, Canada or South America, got a -USA code (this game included).

What people have not been able to answer, is if this game only came out in South America, why did it also receive a Playtronic release? Also, Chavez II was more than likely released in the US, though it doesn't have any English in it, seems to never get the same "it wasn't released in the US argument".

With the -USA code, I'm sticking with the possibility of a limited US print run until proven otherwise.

I recall seeing the game sold here in PR.

My guess it was imported, but I am not 100% sure.

Chavez II was released in the US, mainly in the states with higher spanish speaking population.

The game WAS released in the US, i bought one in San Diego and have found carts on Austin and McAllen, TX.

I don't know how any person can say something like "definitely not a US release" ... did you visit every store in every state of the U.S. in the era of SNES of why are you so sure about this ?.

I am not being sarcastic at all, i just want to know why you assume so much.

After some Super Copas that have appeared on eBay and lower its value, a CIB is another deal ... great game, buddy.

I've heard this numerous times as well, and although I tend to agree that this is logical, I have seen no proof. Much in the same as people saying Super Copa was not released in the US, this is more speculation than fact.

    Get out! Really?

Regardless, I still think that information can be forgotten long after the fact, though this is the best source I've heard yet.

Any specifics on Super Copa? Any distribution paper work from that era that you could get Skaar? It would be nice to point at something tangible to put the argument to rest.

Whether it's a US release or not is questionable, but it is certainly a North American NTSC release and not a Euro Pal release as the rarity guide states.

    Off GameSniped

"This is by far, one of the hardest SNES games to acquire. There's only one copy of each existing in sealed and complete condition that is confirmed, and there are only a handful of loose copies as well.

Super Copa is essentially a Spanish and Portuguese version of Tony Meola'a Sidekicks Soccer.

Many people argue these aren't a true NSTC release, and I understand their reasoning. I wouldn't want to have to pick up these title to complete my set either.

What they forget is that Nintendo released their games by region. In this case- North America (Mexico, USA & Canada).

ISS and ISS Deluxe both appear on the official Nintendo Super Nintendo release list. That means they are official North American releases. They have ESRB ratings. The warranty info is all in US and directs the user to call numbers in the USA or write to the company in the USA. Granted more than likely the release was limited to Mexico, there was coverage in Nintendo Power on these as well. Super Copa is in Spanish, but the manual is also in English. That also has a ESRB rating. "

That pretty much restates everything already mentioned in the thread:

    - The game is in Spanish and Portuguese.
    - It was released in NA, and may have been limited to Mexico exclusively.
    - It is an NTSC title and was not released in Spain (as is stated in the DP price guide)
    - It's crazy rare.

The article is a bit dated, as there is certainly more than one CIB in collectors hands at this point.
