Default Pleiades, Funky Fish and Cat Trax on the 2600

Cat Trax has been around for a while, but Pleiades and Funky Fish were just recently released to the public. What's your opinion of these three games?
Personally, I think Pleiades was the best of the three, and a quantum leap ahead of the Emerson Arcadia version... it plays much more smoothly. Funky Fish is the worst... surprisingly, the Arcadia version is actually better, with less flickery, more detailed graphics. Cat Trax falls somewhere in the middle, being a decent Pac-Man clone and nearly comparable to its Arcadia counterpart.

I'm just amazed to meet someone else who's played the Arcadia version.

    Heh, in that case...

I much prefer the Arcadia's Funky Fish as well. Actually, I also prefer Arcadia's Cat Trax. But that Pleiades, oh do I want to get my hands on that sucker! Very nice - it's a shame these never saw mass production before the bottom fell out (well, maybe not, but I'd have enjoyed them.) It would have been nice to see more on the 2600, too. I bet it could've pulled off a decent Hobo

...I haven't figured out how to get through the first screen in Hobo...
Pleiades on the Arcadia isn't really all that bad...
...I wonder if Jump Bug couldn't have been translated over...
Cat Trax is a decent game on both systems.

I've played it too. If Ward's hammering away at the Arcadia 2001 and clone console for the book taught me nothing, it taught me that there are lot more people who have played this system than you think.

    Now I just know better.

I am resurrecting this thread, due to having recently played all three games on the new Arcadia multicart!

I am going to agree with the assessment that Pleiades is better on the 2600... quite frankly that port blows the Arcadia version out of the water in every respect. Cat Trax and Funky Fish though, I prefer the Arcadia versions... they just don't play quite right on the Atari in comparison.

Anyone else grab one of those multicarts and given those games a shot?

Where, pray tell, would I get my grubby mitts on an Arcadia multicart? I've only got three games for mine which I can't enjoy since the player one joystick isn't all that functional.

I have Pleiades and Cat Trax on the 2600, and I do like Pleiades but never cared that much for Cat Trax. I have to respect any game company trying to erase the memory of Atari's Pac-Man by trying to do a better job at the gameplay, but personally it didn't do anything for me. To be honest, I barely remember anything about the game, which tells me it wasn't all that interesting. Pleiades was pretty impressive, although I don't remember getting all that far (it's been a couple years since I played either one of them).

Pop over to Atariage's classic gaming general forum; there's a thread in there about an Arcadia multicart. I think the guy has a few left that he's selling. Considering what a pain it is to get games for the machine with all the different regions, it was a pretty easy decision on my part :P

I made it to the end of the second loop of Pleiades - to the parking stage - and what I recall is that it is actually a bit harder to maneuver on the Arcadia version vs. the Atari one. I don't remember Cat Trax too well other than I liked the Arcadia one more than Atari's.
