Default Sega CD Model 2 Problems

I just recently got a Sega CD Model 2 and it has some issues. When I try to start it it locks up at the Bios screen where you can see the backround but it won't play the music or start the animation. I took it apart and there was a lot of corrosion on the board. I am working on cleaning it up but I wanted to know weather or not some of the capacitors could have gone bad and if they did what types would I need to buy to replace them. And I was also wondering if anything else could be the source of the problem.

It now refuses to even show that screen but I beleve that the fuse is fine

You should be able to see the really bad caps. If there is a lot of corrosion it's probably from leaking caps. Unless you're really attached to it, get a new system. Model 2 sega cd's are very common and fairly cheap. You'll end up spending more time and money than it's worth trying to fix it.

Probably not what you wanted to hear, but the advice is coming from someone who doesn't give up on many things before every solution is exhausted. Sounds like a lost cause.

Now lets say I did feel like going through the trouble as I really don't have the money to buy another, where should I go to get some of these capacitors I would need.

digikey (www.digikey.com) is your best bet. They will have just about anything in stock that you need. Most parts have very low or no minimum order quantity.
