I was cataloging my Genesis collection today and run into a conundrum. Here's what I have:
- Box w/ Seal of Quality, pink text for Ms. Pac-Man, red text for Tengen
- Color Manual w/o Seal of Quality, pink text for Ms. Pac-Man, white text for Tengen
- Cart w/ Seal of Quality, yellow text for Ms. Pac-Man, red text for Tengen
- Cart w/o Seal of Quality, pink text for Ms. Pac-Man, white text for Tengen
I know there's a Majesco cardboard re-release out there that has the Seal of Quality and a B&W manual as well.
My question is: Which of these match? Did someone at Tengen become colorblind at some point? I can't seem to find a matching box for the cartridge without the Seal of Quality.
As an interesting note:
The text on the one without the SoQ states: Manufactured by Sega Enterprises Ltd. for play on the SEGA GENESIS SYSTEM.
The text on the one with the SoQ states: Manufactured for play on the SEGA GENESIS SYSTEM (and has a black sticker across the back, which means it's probably the Majesco cardboard re-release. #$#@. Why can't I just get a standard set for 1 box?!)
EDIT: I think I found my answer. The cartridge w/o the SoQ was made in Japan, as was my box. The catridge and box w/ the SoQ was made in U.S.A. Can anyone back this up with one of their CIB copies? The manual looks like it was never reprinted to match, so I think I'm okay on that end.
...actually, the box made in Japan has the same legal text as my USA cartridge. Does anyone have a box that matches the non-SoQ legal text?
