    Default Donkey Kong Monitor Issue

    Hello,

I just bought a donkey kong cabinet (with a sanyo monitor) and im having a small issue. The picture looks great and the colors are still very nice. The screen fills out from top to bottom but not from side to side. When I use the vertical size knob, the screen fills out on the right side, but it gets cut off on the left side. In other words, there is a vertical area of black about an inch and a half wide on the left side of the screen. Along that cut off edge, the picture looks bunched up or rolled up.

I know that the previous owner didnt mess with any of the settings because he never had keys to the machine in the first place. I got lucky, and my punch-out cabinet keys worked on the back door of the donkey kong cabinet.

I posted a picture of how the screen looks when its "filled out". I circled the areas on the left where some of the words are cut off. Its down the whole side of the screen but I just circled the important parts. Maybe this is a cap issue? Any suggestions would be great.

Foldover, very common. Cap kit ought to fix it right up.

Yep, it's one of the most common problems with Nintendo's Sanyo monitors. These monitors have an amazing picture though, so it's definitely in his best interest to get a cap kit to fix it.

In the interim tho' you could adjust the monitor to the right and pinch it so that it doesn't fold like that, you won't have a full screen-worth of picture, but it'll still be playable until you fix it.

These two gentlemen are right. I had the exact same problem with my DK, and a cap kit totally fixed it.

Bob Roberts sells the cap kit for the Sanyo 20EZ that your DK uses.
