Got a story for everyone today (and pictures), but here's what I picked up today:

    Play-N-Trade Lake Mary:
    Sega Saturn:
    College Slam - $4

    Xbox 360
    Final Fantasy XIII - $60
Soldier of Fortune: Payback - $13

    Miscellaneous:
    Nintendo Mini-Classics: Spider-man (New) - $3

    Play-N-Trade Oviedo:
    Xbox:
    Silent Hill 2 - $10
    Worms 4 - $13
    Worms Forts - $Free

    Guides:
Conker: Live and Reloaded - $5
    Star Fox Adventures - $Free
    Versus Vol. 19: Ridge Racer V & MotoGP - $5

    Hobby Spot:
    3DO:
    Demolition Man (CIB) - $10

    Atari 5200:
    Blue Print (CIB) - $40
    Miner2049er (CIB) (Gold Variant) - $60
Space Shuttle: A Journey into Space (CIB) - $30

    C64:
    Commodore 64 (CIB) - $70

    PSP:
Cowboy Bebop: The Movie (CIB) - $4.50

    Xbox:
    Xbox (loose) - $40

    As for the story:
The Xbox was for a friend for her birthday. I stopped by The Hobby Spot, a local hobby store that sometimes stocks video games, to see if they had one since I couldn't make it to a local retro store. It turns out the owner recently purchased the stock of a few stores that went out of business. His store is becoming a dealer store for the hobby parts and he's starting a side business with the video game stock. I couldn't believe what he had in his store - NES Deluxe Set, 2 NES Action Sets, an NES Power Set, 2 Atari 5200s, and a Game.com, all CIB. He also had a ton of Atari 5200, Atari 2600 and NES games CIB. I noticed he had some games that were VGA graded, which is where the interesting part comes in:

We had a decent, long discussion about VGA grading. I asked why he had the games graded and his opinion on the whole deal. He said that the grading process only cost him ~$10 per game. They don't grade the contents of the game, but instead grade the seal itself. He had his sealed games graded for a really good reason though - people like to handle the sealed games, and often times can damage the seal. He doesn't raise his prices for VGA graded games, as his copy of Super Mario Bros. 2 was $500 before the grading and $500 afterwards. He knows that there is a small market for the graded games, but they'll eventually sell.

...I also asked what the difference would be if I opened the box, replaced it with a rock, and resealed it properly. He told me that they have tools to determine the relative age of the plastic, so I would need to seal it with plastic from that year or they would be able to determine the difference. That's the first time I've heard that from anyone when asking about VGA. Smart guy.

After the discussion, we talked about his plans for the store and what he wants to do. He plans to pick up any oddball items he can get, including anything in complete or mint condition 8-bit or older, odd systems or kiosks. He plans to get a ton of system displays and kiosks within the next 6 months, so he has me looking around for kiosks and he'll give me a finder's fee for anything I can get for him. He's getting a new Nintendo sign in next week (World of Nintendo sign), so I'll eventually pick some of his stuff up.

I know I paid extra on the Atari 5200 items at his store, but the games were oddball games that I never see CIB. I also always spend more money for finding games in the wild because they come with a story, and it also builds rapport with the store owners. I get amazing deals now with store owners that I regularly deal with because they know I'm always willing to spend extra money if they cut me a deal

EDIT: As for the friend, she loved the Xbox because she can finally play Thief on it
EDIT EDIT: Pictures will come tomorrow - cat fell asleep on the pile of games.

Picked up a few games today:

    Colecovision:
    Cosmic Avenger
    Looper
These are the first Colecovision games that I've ever picked up.
I hoped that they would be worth something but at 1.50 each I'm not too concerned that they aren't.

    Gameboy:
    The Castlevania Adventure
    Final Fantasy Legend III
    Jack Nickluas Golf
    Tetris
    All for about $5

    Game Gear:
    Choplifter III
    Super Columns
    Super Smash TV
    Surf Ninjas
    WWF Raw
    All for about $5

Nice! I've always wanted to try that but I've never known anyone who would play against me.

Picked up a couple things at the flea market this morning. From one dealer I got Folklore CIB for the PS3 for $12 and from another I picked up a game.com Pocket Pro. It is missing the stylus and had 3 loose games with it. They are Batman & Robin, Mortal Kombat Triolgy, and Resident Evil 2. That package was $10. I was hoping for a better day, but it is still too cold.

I stopped by the local flea to look for stuff.

I went by a booth and got RC Pro Am (NES) and Faxanadu (NES) for $1 a piece. You can't go wrong on NES games for that price, unless they're just crappy sports ones. I already have both, but the price is nice and they're both great games.

A stopped by another booth and got a little pile of stuff, the guy had a large tub of Genesis and NES stuff. He wanted $5 a game and was very firm. I dug through it and found River City Ransom and Mike Tyson's Punch-Out. I piled up my stuff and added all together. It was $33 worth. I asked the guy if he'd do $30 even for it all and he accepted. The lot included a Jeep car stereo, a cast aluminum cookie mold, a vintage 70s LED ladies watch, a 10K gold ring with 3 small diamonds in it (which he wanted $20 for), the 2 NES games.

The ring is worth $50 EASY, the watch perhaps $10, the Jeep stereo $20, and the mold is also worth $20 (long story why it has that value). So $30 was not a bad price for the whole lot.

I was a bit adventurous today. I spent $1 on a CD called "The Banjos that Destroyed the World: The Fastest 5-String Banjo Instrumentals of All Time". Talk about a Kitsune Sniper buy. Is it crazy that I like this music? It reminds me of Six Flags .

Passed on an Atari 2600, with hookups, 2 controllers, and 6 commons. Seller said that he wanted $40 and immediately told me that price was because that guy on Pawn Stars gave $100 for one.

    /me sighs.

btw, all the NES games I got today, except River City Ransom, are going to eBay or even FS/FT if someone here wants them.

Oh yea Saturday at the Flea Market .. I found this Blue Label PITFALL ATARI 2600 Cart within a bunch of other 2600 games...$2.00

The cool thing to me is that the games were in an antique furniture sellers items..A place I'd never look,I was actually looking at the old retro 80s coffie tables when I spotted the carts..hidden.

It's mint though the pic looks like crap..

I'd pick up every 2600 cart I could find if it was like a quarter but 2-5 for each loose game is just not my price range...I've actually built another 2600 collection just buying carts here and there...and digging out stuff rom storage.

This game gets hung up in a baggie in the closet though on display..It's unique.

Nice - the re-release blue cartridge. I have a few of those types of carts, but not the Pitfall cartridge. Interesting find at an antique furniture place

I have a few of those blue Activision carts, they're cool. Apparently Skiing is the rarest blue cart.

    Not much this weekend:

Namco Ms. PacMan Plug and Play $4
Loose 2600 Raft Rider from another local collector - $10
CIB Gamecube Paper Mario Thousand Year Door - $6

I been finding good Atari and NES Stuff at Antique malls. Most people there do not know the value of the games or systems and they usually underprice them. I am usually buying Atari 2600's for $15 a piece.

My finds, although weak, I feel like listing them anyway.

    - Super Mario Sunshine (Gamecube. Disc only in good shape): $2.50

Today is the last day of the local Movie Gallery's liquidation sale, so I went back to see what was left. With the DVDs, there was still some decent stuff to be had at rock-bottom prices, while the games had been picked clean of anything remotely worthwhile...although, one copy of Super Mario Sunshine fell through the cracks due to it's name only being printed on the spine (Which caused everyone to overlook it), so I scooped it up. Even though it's disc only, it's hard to argue with getting it for $2.50 when it still costs $15+ elsewhere.

    Non-gaming finds:
    - Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo: Volume 2 (DVD. In original case, in near mint condition): $1
    - Pokémon Adventures: Volume 2 (Manga. New): $8

The Bobobo DVD was from Movie Gallery. The show is a guilty pleasure of mine (I watched it when it still came on Cartoon Network, circa 2006. In my opinion, it's so bad it's good); I couldn't pass it up for $1.

Also, the Pokémon manga was found during a trip out of town yesterday. I had been trying to find Volume 2 for a while...now, once I have a bit more money, I'll try and catch back up (Of course, I've read it all up to the early chapters of volume 8 via fan translations, so I could just jump in on the most recently released volume (Which is Volume 5, last I checked) and be able to go with it from there)

I know I see blue label demon attacks quite frequently. Not sure about that rarity list. People that have brought it up on Atariage all swear that skiing is the hardest one to find.
