    Default Earthbound Unopened

In loo of the Earthbound rule going for a couple hundred greenbacks, I saw this an had to post it ASAP:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=230443242464

I found it linked from EarthboundCentral.com. They post a daily blog, and usually have some interesting (a lot of the time INSANE) Earthbound merch up for auction. I know VGA-Certified stuff can be pretty pricey, but it'll be something else watching how this game settles or sells.

If somebody buys that they deserve to get punched in the throat. Buying sealed is one thing, but 6g's just because it's "VGA certified" and slabbed. If you search around you will see not many people around here think to kindly about slab jobs.

... I thought the game wasn't sold sealed. It was just a normal box.

It wasn't sold sealed. I know there's a thread out there somewhere regarding how VGA grades stuff that didn't have a regular seal... just don't remember where.

I'm pretty sure "out of their ass" is an acceptable answer.

A guy asked that same question. Apparently since there are no tiny creases, it is unopened.

I wonder if these gaylevelgames are actually rarebucky.
Or maybe it's the dude from Nintendoage. I remember he won that earthbound on ebay last year and got it graded. Pretty sure it's him.

I can understand why some people (and perhaps even most on Digital Press) don't like the VGA Graded Games. However, the company that is doing the grading is very well respected in that field. They have been grading other toys for years and simply expanded to cover Video Games since there was demand for it.

I have been tracking VGA Graded Video Games for almost 2 years and they sell through is low. However, I have seen some of the better games sell for very high premium. It will be interesting to see if this game sells at all.

I do think the asking price is high, but they are accepting offers. My guess, if it sells, will sell for no more than $3,000.

Y'know, I wonder what the people who make these games think about slab jobs. Someone should send Mr. Itoi [if he's still around] a link to that auction and ask sometime.

Hey Port, what was the pyramid scheme you mentioned as an example? I would love to read it.

Basically how VGA starts at the top, someone buys into it and because that one person buys into it, others see that person with slabbed games and think they need them and the cycle repeats. It starts like a pyramid and branches outward.

    Thanks Port.

I read the link you provided, and it's quite clear that rarebucky blindlessly defends the VGA. I don't know why, as all "pro VGA" statements made were just signs of defensiveness.

In my opinion, they have no experience other than toys. Sure, some knowledge applies to gaming as well, but there are things about sealed games that do not apply to the standard ratings VGA applies.

But I will agree that if someone wants to do them, let them. And I also agree that if there are suckers out there that defend and love VGA products, kudos to them.

I for one now have the urge to get an Amercan Idol Encore 2 for Wii graded just to see to some helpless sap for $500. All because they want the mintiest game to rot in a shelf for years and years, until they eventually sell it at a future date.

Let's take advantage of these, as they defend wholeheartledly the VGA.

lol wtf? how is this a pyramid scheme?

so your saying VGA starts a business, offering a service, someone tries the service, likes it. Speaks to someone else who they get to try the service, they like it, recommend it to someone else. How do the people "think they need them", is the person "above them" in the scheme manipulating them somehow? Also how is the first person in the scheme (not VGA) profiting from this?

    really confused about your comparison

but its not LIKE a pyramid scheme at all.

it sounds like your picking a negative term to describe it without knowing what your talking about just to prove a point... that is retarded

A friend of mine has an uncle who runs a plumbing business, he refers me to use his services when I have plumbing repairs, I am happy with the service I got, I in turn recommend this service to 2 other people I know, and they use it and recommend to 2 more people. ZOMG!!11!! I am part of a pyramid scheme help!!!

Did you even read the OP? I took out the part about pyramid schemes because so few people understood what I was trying to say. Read this quote:

    http://www.moviequotes.com/fullquote.cgi?qnum=96052

In the same way, it branches out as other sealed collectors see the VGA service and they show two friends who feel compelled to slab all their games and they show two friends who feel compelled to slab all their games and they show two friends who feel compelled to slab all their games and so on and so forth.

When you map out this kind of progression, it looks like a fucking pyramid. That's how it's like a pyramid scheme. The branching.

Self perpetuating model was more appropriate to the post in general. But you didn't even read that damn post otherwise I wouldn't be wasting my time talking to the representative of the retarded half of the internet.

Yes I read it, on the first day you posted it on NA.

and your rebuttal is to call me a retard when I question something, or poke a hole in your argument.

I dont collect sealed or graded games and dont care if people do or not, it doesnt affect the way I collect.

Glad it's you this time and not me Port.

One note; If you look at what grading has done to other collecting hobbies, any enthusiast would be at least a little concerned when this crops up in theirs. Even if they want nothing to do with the items or service themselves.

I know all about it , I have a fairly large Star wars collection, and had long before I collected games. I own a couple graded items as well. For certain items I like it for others I dont see the point. (see U grading for an even bigger argument) But to bash it or try to tell someone why they shouldn't collect something I just don't understand or support. Collect what you like and dont worry about what others like to collect.
