Default Is it possible get Xbox DLC after the shutdown?

I'm considering buying an old Xbox again and buy some of the good games that are not BC with the new 360. My question is if there will be any way for me to get DLC on the old Xbox if the service is shutdown? Will it be possible to transfer DLC to a chipped Xbox drive from a download? I want to build a legit collection so I wouldn't burn games to DVD but I can't see any other way to get the DLC to the games I purchase. It would be nice if Microsoft set up some sort of no-frills FTP service to allow the download of old Xbox DLC for years to come.

I doubt it as they are completely shutting down the Xbox 1 servers. A lot of the DLC can be found on the OXM discs. Regardless I would think you need to subscribe to XBL to even have access to it, and I do not think they are taking new subscribers.

No. Even with a chiped box the DLC is tied to the serial number when it's downloaded.

Then why are people archiving it and making it available for download if it's useless?

I have to think that it's fairly easy to do now or this entire exercise would be useless.

because they cracked the protection years ago. At this point you can IPS patch the executable to force it to load whatever you want. But just copying the files from one modded xbox to another isn't going to work. That's not what they're doing, but it's possible if they had to.

I guess i wasn't clear. You can make it work, but it's not as simple as copy and paste.

So why are you telling people that it isn't going to be possible to get DLC for the old Xbox after April 15th?

    Clearly it is possible.

Yeah as previously mentioned, with a modded xbox you can still have all the DLC

I'm telling people you can't copy data from one xbox to another without resigning it. Perhaps i wasn't clear enough.

Well, the important part is that it can all be archived and won't disappear. That's the most important part regardless of what hoops people have to jump through to use it.

They wont do that because they wouldn't make any money off of it. Plus they would point out that original XBL content has been available for upwards of 7 years and that you should have acted sooner. That would probably even be their corporate response if Bobby Kotick was in charge.

    What?
The sad part is that I would be more than happy to pay them for it. Atleast we have people archiving the raw data so we can eventually find an efficient way to get it to our Xbox's.

I wonder...if I originally had Xbox Live on the original Xbox for just a month, and I still have my GamerTag/account, can I pay the fee now for one more month?

That way I may be able to obtain the download data.

I don't think so. The only thing you can get one month of access for is the 360 and you need a 360 to do that. If you had a 360 without Xbox live, you could use gamertag recovery to get your original account name back but it would be upgraded to 360 silver status until you paid to go gold. But they would probably offer you anywhere from 2 days to two months free gold trial.

If your account is still on the old Xbox then I imagine renewing it would let it function across the board. Probably worth asking Microsoft support about though.
