Default I need help finding a very specific Street Fighter compilation game

First I would like to say I hate capcom so much(is there a reaons to have a billion games, more or less with the same title).

Well anyway I bought 3rd Strike on day 1(my 2nd favorite fighting game of all time), but later traded it in to get another game(money was tight), oh man what a mistake, because now I can't even find it(not even in the gamefaqs database).

It was for PS2, and had 2 games in 1, one was 3rd Strike, and the other was a older street fighter game(I think it might've been SF turbo, but I'm not 100% sure).

PS. Thank fucking god for wipedia, I think I found it(although I could've sworn the box art was different, although I'm probally remembering the main menu), and even through wikpedia, there's barely a foot-note on it.

I decided to go ahead and post this topic anyway, for people to discuss how retardedly confusing this series has become(title wise).

I suppose this is the game I was looking for: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_...ary_Collection (just with it being the PS2 version)

Street Fighter Collection is the correct name - it had SF2 Anniversary and SF3: Third Strike in it. The reason you're confused is that the pictured artwork is the European cover -(note the 16+ Age Marker).

You're looking for this cover: (PS2 and Xbox)
    http://www.ps3attitude.com/wp-conten...ollection1.jpg

Second, Street Fighter is probably one of the easiest named brands to follow. There's only 5 series:

    Street Fighter
    Street Fighter 2 and expansions
    Street Fighter 3 and expansions
    Street Fighter Alpha and expansions
    Street Fighter Vs Series

The Capcom Vs series is a separate entity.

You wanna talk confusing? Try Eidos - they love turning sub-titles into main titles multiple times over :

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain became...
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver became...
    Soul Reaver 2...

There are still people asking for Call of Duty 4: Modern Combat 2 ^o^

I think pretty much everyone would put X-Men vs Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter into the same category as Marvel vs Capcom. The intro sequence for MvsC2 says as much.

EDIT: Oh, you meant Capcom vs SNK etc. Touche.

While there may be 5 series, try remembering wich is which lol.

Street Fighter 2(world warrior), Street Fighter 2(champion Addition or touny addition, whatever the hell it was called), a ton of complitation games, that evidently don't tell you what games are in it, on the box art.

Since I grew up playing the World woarrior, I know It's the original Street Fighter 2(but if I recall the champion addition is pretty much identical).

The main issue is all these series basically overlap/are pretty simular in name, and sometimes even gameplay(with only the Alpha series having a completely different feel, with the exception of 3rd Strike, which who knows where that fits in. I think It's the second game in a series, with the first one being called 2nd impact, atleast 3rd strike is very difining since It's the only game with a 3rd strike title/number, unlike the dozon 2, and 3s out there).

Really, they are just now getting to Street Fighter 4. They are releasing a Super Street Fighter 4, and what's next, Street Fighter 4 Alpha? It's getting real hard to remember what's what.

PS. On a side note, with all the awesome char capcom has, I really wish they would stop making new crappy char, and adding them into a new game, over puting in actual good char(This damn trend of theirs has been going on since the Street Fighter Apha Series, and I'm getting sick of seeing POS char in the game, while they leave out some of the best). It's ok if say a newer game has less char to select from, then an older one had, but geez put all the greats in there(I understand if there are 32 char, fine you need fillers, but if there's only 12 or so, all the char should be top notch, well known char that people would actually want to use).

Frankly I think the Super Street fighter series is rather pointless now, it made sense back in the day(Street Fighter 2 didn't have supers), but now It's just an excuse to remake a game, with a few added char, how about just give us the few extra char the first(or allow us to get expansions via DLC, It's pretty dumb to remake/reproduce basically the same game for a few new char.

Does that mean we should also bring up the completely out of place music video when you beat the game?

Yes, it is a music video for the movie, but is very out of place at the end of the game.

There was never a "Super Street Fighter" series. Super is just a modifier they use to tell you that one of the games has been suped up.

It's not that dumb if they make tons of money that way, and they do.

It's silly. Be thankful or upset Capcom didn't release many fighting games lately...

    Street Fighter
    Street Fighter II
Street Fighter II Champion Edition (' (Dash) in Japan)
Street Fighter II Turbo Hyper Fighting
    Super Street Fighter II
Super Street Fighter II Turbo (X in Japan)
Street Fighter Alpha (series was known as Street Fighter Zero in Japan)
(Street Fighter the Movie (timeline purposes, home version also had extended characters and gameplay differences)
    Street Fighter Alpha 2
Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold (Japanese only arcade release, home version in US released on STreet Fighter Collection PS1 compilation)
    Street FIghter Alpha 3
Street FIghter Alpha 3 Upper (NAOMI Japanese arcade release. Home version released on Dreamcast)
Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX (even more new characters added, PSP only release, not in the proper timeline)
    Street Fighter EX
    Street Fighter EX 2
    Street Fighter EX 2 Plus
Street FIghter EX Plus Alpha (PS1 only release)
    Street Fighter III New Generation
Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact (Giant Attack)
Street Fighter III: Third Strike (Fight for the Future)
    Capcom VS SNK
Capcom VS SNK Pro (Japanese only release for arcade, PS1 release late in lifecycle)

    Capcom VS SNK 2
Capcom VS SNK 2 EO (GameCube and XBOX home versions only, took out Roll cancelling and modified P Groove cancelling for gameplay element)
Capcom Fighting Jam (same style of engine as the SF series)

Hyper Street Fighter II The Anniversary Edition
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix
    Street Fighter IV

These are the proper SF games, the CVS vs series is definitely not in the same category as the Capcom "VS" series of games with comic book and Tatsunoko characters.

    X-Men Children of the Atom
    Marvel Super Heroes
    X-Men VS Street FIghter
    Marvel VS Street Fighter
    Marvel VS Capcom
    Marvel VS Capcom 2
    Tatsunoko VS Capcom

Thanks for posting that, It's such a mess on the Wikpedia to shift through.

People see, you can't tell me that bull shit Isn't confusing, and on to of that, you have to deal with just as many ports(some of which are jp only), and compilatation discs that don't say what games are in it on the box art.

I don't see why not, really. It's not like there's any real canon or connection between the games, so why not group them all together? Just because CvS is a bit more "serious" and doesn't have hyper jumping? Hell, I'd argue that Capcom Fighting Jam might as well be part of the Vs. series too.

Also, don't forget Super Gem Fighter and Super Puzzle Fighter.

There's also a Japan-only game based on the Street Fighter II anime for Saturn and Playstation called Street Fighter II Movie. It's mostly FMV, but it actually has a fighting section so I guess it counts.

Those aren't proper Street Fighter games.

CVS basically has Street Fighter elements and essentially IS Street Fighter. The Tatusnoko/Marvel games are easy moves, chain combos flying all over the place a bit more casual with a completely different engine. The other games fall along the lines of the game engine related to Street FIghter.
