    Default ColecoVision Issues

So I received a ColecoVision unit in the mail today, hooked it up and noticed two issues:

    1. I have the automatic level select issue (with a constantly pulling upwards as well as constant firing on the 2nd Player). I know the FAQ has a fix for this.

    2. In Controller Port #1 (1st Player) I cannot fire or jump in any game. I've tried both controllers and neither one will fire or jump.

So, I know what the fix is for issue #1, will the same fix work for issue #2 or is there a different fix? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but have you tried posting your question on Atariage, also? They have a very large Colecovision section there.

Assuming the fix is "replace that one chip that fucks up all the time and check for continuity" then it should fix your problem.

Replace the 74LS541 chips on the controller ports of the system board. Socket them to make it easier to replace them next time.

If the controller is at fault, I have a spare Colecovision controller if it helps out. I live in the UK, so obviously there is postage cost to account for.
