Yesterday was the final day for the GC/Hollywood here.

I picked up a few games, nothing overly spectacular as far as pricing, but still cheaper than used on Amazon.

Possibility is infinity! You must be satisfied!

Never had any Game Crazy's out where I live but had a few Hollwood Video's that just closed up a couple of months ago. Sadly there wasn't anything worth getting in there used game section when they were going out of business.

It's too bad that Hollywood Video had to file for Bankruptcy. They own Game Crazy and it all falls into place. You can thank stuff like Net Flix for this trend. Next on the chopping block on Blockbuster, you watch.

    Wow, that's some rant.

Seriously, the day when GameCrazy got rid of all the pre-PS2 stuff was when they lost their ace in the hole over other large game retailers. That's when I stopped going there anyway.

I missed getting pre-PS2 games also David

I don't buy at Gamestop all the time, only when I see something cheaper then I get it

The two Gamecrazy's near me close up for good this Tuesday. I stopped by earlier today and picked up Mega Man X Collection (GCN) for a few dollars.

I agree, once Gamecrazy cleared out their "Classic Plastic" there wasn't much cause to go back there.

GC closed a while back and all that left me was Play N Trade. Went by there yesterday and it's now a tattoo parlour and sushi shop.

Nothing left now except pawn shops, thrift stores and the flea market... the end of days, man, end of days.

My closest Gamecrazy closed right before the launch of the PS3. I kept thinking how pissed off all those people who preordered a PS3 at that store must be. Theres only one Gamecrazy left around here but it's nearly an hour away. I've gotten some good stuff there, including a 360 headset that actually works well with my head. But since I haven't been there all year they may have already closed down as well.

All of my local gamecrazys closed down 3 years ago. Really a shame as I picked up a large amount of loose NES and SNES games throughout the years via them. If they were still around I'd probably be near done with the NES set.

I've had no local GC stores (or Hollywood Video's) for going on 2 years. The ones I did have the ability to visit were complete garbage and I did not give them my money because of that. No loss to me. Nor is the loss of Hollywood Video. Blockbuster will soon be gone thanks to their HUGE amount of debt. B&M stores are dying thanks to the kiosks (that Blockbuster has also gotten into the business of) and Netflix and others dvd mailings as well as video streaming and On Demand systems of the cable company.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

Yeah, that sounds like a sanitary place to eat...

Another reason video rental places aren't doing well are those RedBox rental kiosks that have sprung up everywhere. When you deal with customers at a movie rental store, you've got to deal with all their bullshit (refusing to return videos, damaged discs, theft, robberies) but with those rental kiosks the downside is pretty small. If people don't return their movies, it keeps auto-charging their credit cards. You can't bitch and whine to a machine about late fees you don't want to pay.

The GC and Hollywood Video by my work, is closing down as well. The only stuff I got out of there was Marvel vs Capcom 2(PS2) and a Tifa(FF7 AC) figure. I never really liked shopping there since the store was extremely small, and most of the employees were complete tools.

The Hollywood Video/GameCrazy near my area closed down several months ago. I agree with your statement.

My friends and I were actually very impressed and that they were selling Chrono Trigger for 5 dollars.

Almost all of the GC stores closed down in this area last year. We're now starting to see the Hollywood sides closing down as well. I imagine it won't be very long before Blockbuster starts to do the same thing. I was in one today and saw a bunch of merchandise that just felt out of place sitting in a Blockbuster. When the GC stores were shutting down, I stopped into them to see what deals I could procure. Since I'm not that big of a movie buff, I didn't bother with the Hollywood closings.

One thing I will miss is being able to find a game at one of their locations that would be sold out or not stocked at GS.

The local GC's last day is Thursday. They're transferring all their inventory to Hollywood so it can flounder over there. Apparently it's less to pay 2 Hollywood employees instead of one GC person.
RIP bargora, you will be greatly missed. That is how we do things on Giedion Prime.
