Yeah, that's actually a very common 3rd party controller. I have a couple at home - I could pull up the name of the controller if you'd like.

Congrats on the grab there. The marker should come off easily, but make sure whatever you use is plastic safe.

Also be warned about using the magic eraser. It's something I personally wouldn't use, because some people say it can wipe the finish off of the plastic.

Also, congrats on the find, Urzu!

As an owner of the SNES2 since 1998, it looks real. But the RF switch won't work without an adaptor, so hopefully you have some a/v cables- there's no S-Video output either.
Nice buy, though! Nice to see people selling an SNES at a reasonable price.

Should I use this to replace my old SNES and put my old SNES into storage, also it doesnt work well with Game Genie does it?

Whether you want to use this or your original SNES, that rests on if you have an s-video cable or not. If you have an s-video cable for SNES/N64/Gamecube, you may want to stick with the original. However, if you don't, I heard the basic composite output on SNES2 is better.

It depends on the revision of the Game Genie and SNES, but most likely you won't be able to use a Game Genie on it. There's a thread floating around here detailing which revisions of the SNES work with which reivsions of the Game Genie.

I have 2 Game Genies one is an older model adds the dashes before typing in the codes, the second is a newer one that adds the dashes as you type in the codes. From what I can gather is that only the first and last lines will work on an SNES mini is this accurate?

Well, even ignoring the logo issue, what are the odds that the average American would end up with a PAL controller?

Not to mention that the Y and A buttons are the wrong color.

    What?

I have one of those 3rd party multi input cables. The one that has a Gamecube/SNES/N64, PS1/2/3, and original Xbox input on one end and composite A/V, audio, and S-video output on the other. I hooked up my SNES mini to it and then the S-video and audio to my TV and it works fine.

So do you guys mean that Urzu needs a proper S-video cable to get S-video out or do you mean that the SNES mini doesn't output S-video? Because mine outputs it fine. I was playing Kirby Super Star the other day

Unplug the yellow video cable and see if it still works.

I never had the yellow video cable plugged in, just S-video and audio. That doesn't make sense anyway because at the time my TV was set to accept S-video.

As some others said, there are better options at cleaning off marker marks than rubbing alcohol...But alcohol definately does work. It just requires heaps of time and effort to get it off of most cartridges using it [one game took me a hour].

Yes they changed the motherboard from SNES 1 to SNES 2 but that is obvious, but one of them is fake in that picture so I dont think they changed the motherboard mid run in the SNES 2s.

Also does anyone have a comparison of the sizes of the SNES 1 to SNES 2 maybe like a Youtube video or something.

SNES vs. SNES Jr. is pretty much the same comparison as DS vs. DS Lite.

Only negative with the Snes 2 and Jr that ive heard, is they lack the port to hook up a S-video cable [or component with the official nintendo cables].
