Which flash cart is the best for the Genesis?
Thanks!
Funny you should ask. There is a new flash cartridge created and released about a month and a half ago from a guy in the Ukraine, called the Ever Drive.
It uses SD cards, and plays all Genesis games (aside from things like Virtua Racer or Super Street Fighter 2), Master system games too. Does NOT support 32X (there could be a workaround). Currently works only on original Genesis hardware (Genny, Nomad, CDX). SMS only works on Genesis. SD card has to be FAT16, so you may need one just for this.
And it's pretty cheap. Bad thing is it doesn't have a cartridge case or label. However, users on Atari Age are looking to pool together and buy a big quantity at once, and have one or two people make them.
Ppl on Sega-16 are pooling together as well. Good review here.
The alternative is the Neo-Myth cart, that supports all Gen games, SMS games, Super Street Fighter II, 32X and Mark III games, in addition to region free SEGA CD bios. Costs $139, plus only comes with 256MB card. Bigger cards are expensive. This unit has the best features, although it loads much slower than the Ever Drive. Ever Drive is half the price, too.

The Neo Myth card seems odd. It uses GBA flash carts as its storage?
I want the guy that made the NES and SNES powerpak to make a genesis version.
I want it to support SMS and 32X games as well. Also, I would like it to be able to play sega CD games directly from a CF card. Plus, if it could play Virtua Racing, that'd be great too.
Neo-Myth uses GBA storage, up to I think 1GB now, but they are really expensive. It also has a card that accepts SD cards, which costs around $70 I think. So unless you did a bulk order, a satisfactory Genesis flash cart could cost you almost $200. I don't even have a 32X. Just want a Genesis cart, as I only own about 70 games.
I don't believe RetroUSB (aka bunnyboy) has any plans for a Genesis cartridge in the works. I think he's been looking into something for the N64 though.

The Neo Myth cart supports both SMS and 32X games without any problem. If you purchase the SD add-on, you can simply put all your ROMs on an SD card.
Given that you can use CD-R disks in a Sega CD, there's no reason to have a flash cart for those games. Adding Virtua Racing support would be cost prohibitive, as adding an SVP chip for one game is fairly pointless. You can pick up an original cart for fairly cheap.
I believe the Neo-Myth has a built-in FM chip just for the SMS games that supports it.
OOOOps, double post.
