Hrm, I just checked the DP guide and there is no mention of this game. I saw it in a gamestop in recent weeks and I had never heard of it. Anyone else ever heard of this game?
I didn't like it . But it isn't rare or anything. You can usually pick it up on E-Bay for under $5.00.Originally Posted by hezeuschrist
One of the two worst Contra games ever. I haven't played it and have no wish to do so. I'm not sure which one it is--I think Legacy of War was the second--but they sort of take a 3D approach with rancid textues pasted onto polygons (at least the second one) and moves around in a fashion QUITE different from that you're familiar with. They were developed in Europe by what I'm told was formerly Novotrade. Ack.
If you're a Contra fan, forget the PSOne Contas exist.
Damn Sony and their 3D-only policy.
It's likely there as C: The Contra Adventure.
yes my grandfather has that game, i never played it after i heard it sucked horribly
At least Shattered Soliders is a great game. True to the roots with 2D play and a DAMN hard game. I'm no slouch to the Contra games or shooters in general, but I'm not ashamed to admit that game picked me up and spanked my ass hard!
Also Contra DX for the GBA is nice also.
Damn them ripping off Super C. It never really clicked until I read it just now...I've seen both titles many times but I never really paid much attention to it.Originally Posted by Trellisaze

Just don't buy the Psone versions of Contra, You'll be glad you didn't.
The Ps2 version of Contra is 10 times more better then them.
The GBA version of Contra is in the same catagory as the Ps2 version. What I mean by that is, that it's good like the Ps2 version.
Both PS1 Contras = total crap. Don't buy them, don't think about buying them, don't even borrow them from anyone to try. You'll be sorry if you do.
I would like to politely disagree. The PS2 Contra is a new game and it was developed for that system...the GBA contra is nothing but Contra Spirits/Contra III again, and the train stage (isn't this the level Konami claimed was "designed for the GameBoy Advance" ?) is nothing but a level from Contra The Hard Corps.Originally Posted by hamburgler
The GBA doesn't have a big enough screen to properly do a Contra Spirits. Half of the fun of Contra has always been seeing enemies coming at you from a distance and deciding what to do before they get to you...like Ghosts'n Goblins on the GameBoy Color this game simply doesn't have a big enough screen. That's part of the reason that I don't like Contra 3, by the way; the whole "run right and shoot enemies immediately before they overrun you" part of the first level wasn't a pleasant experience for me.
Secondly, they've messed up physics on something rather important: picking up item capsules. On the Super Fami and SNES they could allow that item capsule to bounce up and away behind you and it didn't necessarily get thrown offscreen. Here, though, they've decided to "help" and bounce it directly up, and of course it comes straight back down. Very annoying as you can stand somewhere with those silly capsules bouncing back and forth, and your weapon switching on you, indefinitely.
They might as well have thrown the capsules forward, since they also have taken out the rather important two-weapon system. You can now only carry ONE weapon. Argh.
Finally, the end-level splash screens are absolutely silly and don't look right in this game.
Unfortunately, Contra Spirits Advance is another game that's quickly forgotten. This release isn't very well known and for good reason...it's just another piece of shovelware.
