Default Any point in keeping my Gamecubes if I get a Wii?

Other than collecting purposes that is? I have two, one with Viper modchip and full sized DVD lid and another with Regular lid (miniDVD only) and XenoGC modchip or something like that. I know the Wii is backwards compatible, so is there any reason or anything I cannot do on the Wii in comparison to what I already have? Thanks in advance!

Do you have the Gameboy Advance Player? That's the main reason I own a Gamecube.

I do not actually and that is one of the reasons I thought should I shell out for one or put that towards a Wii also...............

I think they're worth the money, yeah. There are plenty on Ebay at OK prices.

Playing Gamecube LAN games, as well as the PSO games on the internet, cannot be done on Wii.

That's why I keep mine, too. Playing the GBA Castlevanias and games like it on the GBA Player felt like having a whole new classic console to enjoy.

The last time I checked, Gameboy Players can be had for $10 at Gamestop. Well worth the small price.

Well honestly that's two things I have zero interest in so I don't need to consider that.

As far as GBA compatibility are there option to do that on Wii like modchips, Wiikey with emulators etc?

The GBA Player is also the only hardware that can play dedicated Game Boy Color games on the TV as the Super Game Boy doesn't support them. As far as emulation goes, a modded Xbox 1 has the ability to play Game Boy Advance games at imperfect speeds so I think a Wii should be capable. Depends on how good the emulator for it is.

There is a port of Visual Boy Advance for the Wii, but it runs with a lot of frameskip(games are very rough). If you want to emulate the GameBoy Advance, it's best to emulate it on a computer.

As for keeping your GameCubes if you get a Wii, for me personally, it's pointless to keep any GameCubes around unless you, 1) play Phantasy Star Online or, 2) have the GameBoy Player. The GameBoy Player is the only reason I still have my GameCube. If I wouldn't have bought one, I would have sold my GameCube.

I keep it hooked up for several reasons. The Game Boy Player is the big one. And it's minor, but it's nice to not need to have the Wii remote out just to start up a GameCube game.

So I keep it hooked up to a CRT for GameBoy titles and classic GCN compilations with a Hori digital controller hooked up at all times, and just play 3d GameCube games on my Wii with my Wavebird controller on a LCD.

One other potential issue is the use of the action replay for codes and playing imports. I think one of the Wii's updates killed support from the Action Replay so you would need an actual Gamecube to use an Action replay I believe.

I keep around GC's for a few reasons:

    1: The aforementioned GBA player.

2: My Mother is a big Animal Crossing freak, (yeah, just go read my location bar...) and a GC lets her time travel without screwing around with my Wii's system clock.

    3: You never know...

I can confirm that updates completely blocked out the gamecube action replay discs on wii. It's a moot point though as the homebrew app ocarina does what the action replay did + more.

There's always the Super Game Boy 2, but that's rare.

I'm pretty sure Datel keeps updating the firmware of their Action Replays to fix this. There's no way to get an updated copy aside from buying a new one, however.

The Super Game Boy 2 only added a link cable port. It does not support GBC games.
