Star Tropics, for a game that was never released in Japan it sure does kick all sorts of ass. I like the second one more than the first though some people will say otherwise.

What's up with islands? Get more land.
What's up with deserts? Get less sand.
...StarTropics is talked about all the time in terms of late, great NES games. Zoda's Revenge was decent, but StarTropics and soaking the map in water will always be a fond memory for me. Too bad I didn't want to get my map wet and had to type in all of the numbers by hand until I found the right one
Anyone have a theory on why it wasn't released over there?
Good games, haven't played them as much as I want to.
Star Tropics? Meh. Those games are overrated. How about the Power Blade series? They are really good action/platformers similar to the Mega Man games. Very unknown to the gaming community.

U GAIZ JUST DONT LIKE CHANGE , (builds a artificial foundation here)
StarTropics? Nah (and it's only a matter of time until InsaneDavid responds). Here's an NES game series people never talk about: Big Nose the Caveman.
(And if you've played one of the Big Nose games, you'll know why.)

It's fun in an odd way. You really have to get used to the outdated physics before you can truly enjoy the game. For a game of its style though, a lot of stuff is really cryptic. In that swamp puzzle, I would have never, ever guessed that there was a hidden door right freaking next to the exit stairs.

Startropics was fun, but I never got hooked on it. Now if I had to mention a series, Top Secret Episode and The Mafat Conspiracy don't seem to get talked about as much as they used to. I was always hoping Vic Tokai would have done a third one to balance it out as a trilogy for Duke Togo considering Mafat was such a solid improvement over the first, but sadly that never happened.
An Urzu402 topic is a topic worth looking at.

Not to be a Negative Ned but StarTropics certainly gets its due. It's even on the Virtual Console. For better or worse, there is no title on the NES that has not been discussed in detail. The Game Boy on the other hand, excepting Pokemon, is virtually ignored.
