    And

hot swapping (carts) like you can do with Magnavox Odyssey (1972) and Atari 1200 (ok it's a computer, still uses carts though)

My pick would be the turbo feature being standard for the TG-16 controllers. No need to buy another controller for rapid-fire. I guess NEC and Hudson thought that would make up for the stupid decision to have only ONE controller port.

Hehe. In their defense though, the original Japanese system relied on the 3port and 5 port expansion TAPs. Would have been a bit of a mess to break compatibility IMO. Though... they could have at least included a small cut down 2 port expansion device (backwards compatible) as a system pack in. But where's the fun in that?
Tom: That third elephant is so elusive, ya know.
    NFG: Elephants are so unpredictable.
Tom: Especially in groups of three.
NFG: Two pairs of three, no less.

    The reset button/switch.

    Playing a shitty game? RESET!

Consoles have now ditched this feature, and depending on how you look at it, it could be the greatest thing since sliced bread, or your worst nightmare.

But given the length of most games today, it's probably good they did away with the soft reset.

[QUOTE=Nintega Grafx-16;1728761]So no proof that there some good original Xbox games that won't work on 360? You are just proving my point that the black and green door stopper isn't worth owning anymore. It is obsolete.[/QUOTE

Timesplitters: Future Perfect--I still play it on the old box (then I play it on my original Xbox, badum-ching).

Another severely underrated feature in an old console: The analog thumb-stick in the NGP/NGPC. True, it wasn't the BEST analog control stick ever made, but it was fun to use, and it was the first to be used in a hand-held system.
Also, the NGPC's built-in features, such as the calender, date-time clock, horoscope system and such were very much ahead of their time.
You could even customize the color scheme for the old monochrome games!
