I can't apologise for all dumbass foreign bidders though heh...

Unless it's a huge package, I always take airmail shipping because the time saving to price is almost always negligible. In some cases, surface rates have been MORE expensive. WTF is up with that?!

A couple of times I've been sent Euros when I've asked for US$ cash payment from bidders in Europe. In their defence, they've included extra cash to cover exchange charges at the bank. Needless to say I've just kept the cash in that form anyhows, as I use it to pay for Euro auctions I win from time to time :P

All but 2 sellers I've asked about whether they would ship to the UK when the auction states "US only" have said they would. I reckon that's a pretty good rate heh. In the 2 exceptions, I had the items sent to my American ex-gf who sent them onto me. As long as I tell them I'd pay for the additional shipping and I would be paying in US currency, I've not had any resistance to bidding. But as we've talked about in this thread, the #1 reason I've found out why they generally don't ship abroad is because of the hassle of doing so... not because they don't want to.

Actually, I have to change my previous answer a bit. If I have an overseas bidder contact me, asking "May I bid, I'm in Canada (or wherever)?" I have no problems telling them they may bid and, if he wins, we'll figure out the best method to our mutual satisfaction. I appreciate the interest and the heads-up.

BUT....if you bid and win and THEN tell me you're outside the US, our transaction has ended. In all of my ads, it says, in all caps mind you, "I do not ship outside of the US, nor do I accept Paypal or any other kind of electronic payment."

In fact, I just had someone win a recent auction who then told me they were in Germany. I sighed, then said "Well, you obviously didn't read the ad, but we'll go ahead and do this. Send a money order drawn on US funds."

They then sent me a message, yelling at me becuase I don't accept Paypal because "That's what would be most convenient for me" (screw what I requested and what's convenient for ME). They also sent this beaut:
"Germany doesn't have money orders. I have no idea where I'm supposed to get this."

THIS is the kind of stuff that sours me on International orders.

If a seller doesn't take Paypal (and admitedly very few sellers I win from don't seem to), then that's what the stash of US$ currency I have is for. No one complains about getting hard currency in the mail

I used to have a friend in Sweden to whom I mailed Babylon5 videos (it wasn't showing there). It was not a big deal:

-Stuff in a bubble envelope (as usual)
-Fill out customs form and label as "gift"
-Pay $10-15 in airmail or $5 shipmail

That was it. I didn't think the process was any more difficult than mailing a normal package.

    So hmm..

    - No tracking
    - No delivery confirmation
    - Little more work (4-5 papers)
    (- sellers chargeback protection )
    (- Paypal protection ?)

What did I need all that crap for? The Babylon5 videos always reached their destination... the U.S. dollars were already in my pocket.
