Vagrant Story

hey all,

i just started playing vagrant story for the ps1. i am about 3 hr's into the game and i do enjoy it so far. the story has not completely opened up yet, but it seems like it has potential to be good. i read somewhere that it was made by the same team who made FF tactics and i definitely see the similarities in the spells, music, level design, etc.

one thing i noticed is the battle system is very complex and tough to get understand. i.e. the boss battle against the golem was tough because i didnt realize attacking different body parts and using a specific weapon is the only way to bring down certain enemies.

how many people have played this game? what are your thoughts? any helpful tips/advice?

this is one of those games that had me completely hooked for like 3 days then i hit a rough part and just stopped playing for a couple of months, tried to get back and now i've 4gotten the game mechanics, wtf i was supposed to be doing, how i arrived at that part of the game and who da main characters were lol



i dont know if you're at that forbidden forest part or wateva its called, but so it doenst happen to someone else like it did me, DONT FOLLOW THE FUCKING MOTHS! i have no idea why the game tells you to, but it is literally the worst advice a game could ever give anyone


lol this is the reason why i stopped playing because i couldnt figure out how to get out of that goddamn forrest, i eventually did, but for some reason i stopped playing again and now again, i've 4gotten wat i was doing and how the nuances in the combat worked

The thing I didn't like about the game is that after you attack for awhile, you get tired or whatever so your attacks stop doing as much damage. That makes some battles really drag on and on and on. I got to the last boss fight but couldn't beat it b/c of this (I think, it's been awhile). It's one of those games that has great atmosphere, a good story, some interesting gameplay elements, but it has that one gameplay element that just about ruins it. (Koudelka is another one.) I wouldn't say this game was ruined, necessarily, but I really wish they hadn't included that.

If it matters, the barcode on mine ends in 00025, which appears to be standard.
