Default Problem using Seiken Densetsu 3 w/ a Game Genie

I recently modded a SNES Game Genie to use a passthrough converter for my copy of Seiken Densetsu 3. However, when I tried booting the game through the GG, all I got was a black screen. I already tried cleaning the both the Game Genie and the cart, but it didn't make any difference.

I did a bit of searching online, but I keep getting conflicting info regarding SD3's compatibility with a GG.

Does anyone here have an idea why the game won't play?

Did you try switching it off? Some games are finicky with it if you boot up with the Game Genie turned on.

It apparently does not function due to one of the cart's chips. If you're using the GG just for a passthrough, the plastic tabs can be shaved down in the system's cart slot instead. (I have mine rigged that way.)

You don't have to use that method of course, but it may be the only choice besides importing a Japanese console.
    In Heaven, everything is fine.

Thanks for the help everyone. It's a pity this method doesn't work. I really don't want to risk damaging my SNES, and I don't have the money for Super Famicom either.

Oh well, at least I only paid five bucks for Seiken Densetsu 3. And the Game Genie still works as a cheating device, so it not a total loss.

With this method, it is nearly impossible to destroy your system. I did it in about ten minutes without failure.
