Transfering Dreamcast saves from a PC to a VMU?

The other day I picked up Dynamite Cop and found the Detonator Pack online and was wondering if there was a way to transfer the file to a VMU. I don't have a broadband adapter for my DC so connecting it to the internet and downloading the file to VMU that way isn't an option. Is there any type of USB reader for PC to be able to transfer VMU files back and forth?

There are a few options for moving VMU files.
- Dream Explorer will let you burn vmu data files to a data CD and transfer from the CD to VMU using the Dreamcast:

- Innovation's Double Power VMU PC linker connects to a PC parallel port and lets you transfer files to/from VMUs. It even copies protected files and can connect 2 VMUs simultaneously for direct transfers without a PC.
- There are sites that allow transfers via the Dreamcast web browser, but if you don't have a BBA...
- The Nexus DC memory card has a PC connection port on top. Might be other 3rd party cards with the connector too? There are plans/software online to build your own Nexus memory card to PC transfer cable.


Dream Explorer will probably do what you need. For me, I really like the Double Power linker. It let me backup all my DC saves to PC and easily regroup all my saves to genre categorized VMUs (even protected saves).

Great topic, especially concerning Dynamite Cop, a game I've had for years and is criminally neglected. At least, I've spent a fair share of time in it but there's simply so much replay value it's a shame to not play it more.

All the same, this motivated me to finally check out the remainder of contents on a Dream Explorer disc I recorded several years back and sure enough it had the Detonator Pack. It's a nice add-on, even if it's cosmetic and in the end it gave me an excuse to dump a few more hours in.

I've put at least a good couple hours into Dynamite Cop so far, such a great game. It's really disappointing that Sega never kept any type of server up or at least made a compilation disc of all the download's for Dreamcast games.
