Stuff I picked up a couple of days ago during a drive to the Shreveport area...

Cowboy Casino for the 3DO for $7.95, Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure for the 32X for $9.95, Plaque Attack and Karate for the 2600 for $2.95 each, and The Electric Company Math Fun for the Intellivision for $2.95, all from a GameXchange in Tyler, TX. Joshua: Battle for Jericho for the Genesis and the Super Wide Gear for the Game Gear were from a Tyler Goodwill for $1.99 each. They also had a copy of Grandia II for the Dreamcast for $3.99, but it was missing the second disc. Anyway, the five Colecovision games were picked up at a flea market in Greenwood, LA. One vendor had an old Coleco Zaxxon tabletop game, but it was in an open area and not covered up, so it had been rained on and the weather basically ruined it. If I could have located the owner of the stand, I'd have bought it for a dollar just to mod the case into a tiny desktop MAME cab.

Are these import controllers? I don't ever recall seeing these for sale back in the day. And that VMU I suspect is for the Sakura Wars Dreamcast game (my only source after Googling the text on the front was a Spanish Wiki page about the game) which didn't come out here, which makes me wonder where it came from and why the game wasn't there.

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (PS) $2.98
    Red Alert: Retaliation (PS) $2.98

Wait - how did I know that you already had that and you didn't?
That's a bit overpriced for Evil Dead, isn't it?

Yeah, it is, but I was thinking I needed an Evil Dead, and as usual, it's the other one.

Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Eye of the Beholder (SNES, cart only) - free

    Photo in webcam-o-vision:

...And that's it for games so far. However, I did get a few MST3K VHS tapes (Angels Revenge, Cave Dwellers, Pod People, and Shorts) for $1.99 each at a Value Village.

(Until I bought these, I hadn't paid over a buck for any VHS tapes in years. Coincidentally, the last VHS tape I purchased before these was MST3K: The Movie late last year.)

.....The best thing for me so far out of the stuff is the Nyko Charge Station..All i needed to do was clean the contacts on the battery packs as they were making good enough contact..

I can totally understand why a store would chuck it though, who has the time to clean the contacts.

What I'd like to understand is what Field Destroy means as to what's thrown away..Non sellable may be working stuff thrown out?what's the specifics.

Field destroy means just that. To *destroy* in field.
Basically, we'd keep a box aside for anything that got coded as this,
and when the DM came by, it was their job to verify the contents of the box,
    and smash stuff up.
Although, most are lazy, and just chuck stuff out
(or, in our case, take it all home)

edit: as to *why* things are coded FD, it's returned product that is defective that the vendor will not allow to be returned.
It's usually for things like 3rd party controllers, but also like disks that can't be resurfaced (like cracked, or scratched tops)

"Field Destroy" means that corporate authorized the destruction and disposal of items that were returned to the location as defective. Said items held a value that the company felt wasn't enough to justify the costs associated with packaging/freight back to the warehouse and the man hours needed to determine if the item was salvageable or not (and on that note, the man hours needed to actually attempt a salvage).

I never was quite sure how it worked with accessories but more often than not, it was usually the 3rd party accessories that got regulated to Field Destroy status. I can only assume that because they bought these accessories in bulk on the cheap, it wasn't worth the trouble for either GS or the manufacturer to get the item back and there must have been an allowance of some kind for X number of potentially defective units.

It IS a damn shame that so many games would get field destroyed that were in perfectly working order. Some kid would buy the game, not like it, and would sometimes abuse the return policy by saying it didn't work. Given that they were Xbox games, it was hit or miss if the kid was telling the truth or not but considering most GS employees barely make above minimum wage, it's not worth the trouble to fuss with.

What's supposed to happen with Field Destroy item is a district manager is supposed to sign off on the items, remove them from defective inventory, and then assist the store manager in actually destroying the items before throwing them in the dumpster. I've had a few DMs who were lax in that regard and some lucky dumpster diver managed to get a bag of unbroken discs every now and again.

There's plenty more that can be discussed on that subject matter but this isn't the best thread to do it in. To get on topic, no new finds on my end though I haven't really looked. I did get some 3DO games and a GBC game in the mail that I bought from members on here though.

My only guess is that they are import controllers released for Puyo Pop Fever. I remember them releasing SEGA Saturn controller for the PC at the time, but I don't know if they released Dreamcast versions. It is possible though.

Anyway, I went to Disc Replay today as they moved locations and found these things:

    Spy Vs. Spy - $2.99
    Plaque Attack - $1
    LoZ Ages - $7.99
    LoZ Seasons - $3.99

Fairly good prices for their store. Everything seemed to work as well.
    I have a sig?

Stuff from the last two weekends. (I know, I know. But last month's thread is old, and I just got around to taking photos. This current weekend's finds coming in a few minutes). Click pics for full-size:

Sega Dreamcast Sports Edition w/AC cable, red controller, red VMU, Mad Catz Tremor Pak and Shenmue Disc 3, $8

I talked this one down from $12 after pointing out that the AV cable was missing. This takes my sports DC total up to 3. I just wish the last two I bought had come with the proper sports controller -- I still only have one of those. I want to keep my original boxed, and one I'm going to use for my everyday DC, so I'll be selling or trading the third if anyone is interested.

    GEN Sonic & Knuckles
GEN Dynamite Headdy, $1 for both
GBA Breath of Fire II, $2

Not much to say about these. I already have S&K and DH, but it was one of those rescue mission purchases. You know, where you can tell if you don't buy them, the seller's gonna toss them in the trash at the end of the day?

    NES Krusty's Fun House
NES Jeopardy: Junior Edition, $5 for both

With each addition to my NES collection, I'm finding it hard to be picky about the price. In the past, I didn't like paying more than $1, maybe $2 per game, but now it's getting to the point that when I find a game I don't have, I'm spending a little extra to ensure I don't have to continue chasing it in the future.

    PSX Gallop Racer (complete), $1

Um, it's a horse racing game. It was a dollar.

Sega Saturn (Model 1) w/AV cable, 1 controller, Bug (disc only) and N64 & DC RF units, $5

Haggled this one down from $10. As the DC above, I officially have too many Saturns, so I'll be selling one or two of them very soon. Give a shout if you're interested.

    SNES Killer Instinct
    SNES Donkey Kong Country
SNES Tetris & Dr. Mario, $5 for all

These were $2 each originally. I think these are a little cleaner than my exisiting copies, so I'm gonna swap 'em out.

XB MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf (complete)
XB Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (complete)
GBA GameShark (complete), $5 for all

As above, these were $2 each originally. Been looking for the GBA GameShark for a while now, so that was a nice little surprise.

    GC Mario Party 4 (complete)
PS2 Manhunt (complete), $5 for both

    PSX Final Fantasy Anthology (complete)
PSX Final Fantasy VII (missing manual and one of the discs; I forget which), $2 for both

Finally found the original Manhunt for cheap. Every copy I've found until now was priced at $7 or more! And what is up with Final Fantasy VII black label? Will I never find a complete copy?

Okay, this weekend's stuff coming next...

If I remember right, they were more geared for fighting games like CvS/CvS2, the MvC games, and the KOF titles that were released on DC. I'm sure games like Puyo Puyo took advantage of them but I can swear they were meant for the fighters first and foremost.

    Wow, um...

I got Defcon 5 on the Saturn for $5, Donkey Kong Classics on the NES for $2 and Fighter's Megamix on the Saturn for $2 today. Interesting trip, there was a brush fire outside the store where people had been setting off fireworks.

    Windows95.com shareware set (4 CDs) - $2
    Famicom pad-shaped NES clone pad - $2
    Pokemon Stadium 2 (loose) - $5

I'll be bundling that with Pokemon Stadium 1 and posting it on eBay soonish.

Other finds were incredibly scarce today. One of my favorite vendors... didn't show up, instead we got a bunch of idiots selling crappy three-CD compilations of Mexican and crap music (eg. reggaeton) who usually torture me on Sundays (which is why I DON'T go to the flea market on Sundays.)

Tomorrow I won't go on the hunt. I've got... family business to take care of. Not looking forward to it.

Thanks! Like I said, that was actually from last month, so I cheated a bit by posting in the July thread, but I've been lagging on getting some photos taken until today. Here are my proper finds from this past weekend. As always, click the pics for full-size.

Silent Hill 2 Official Strategy Guide
Silent Hill 3 Official Strategy Guide, $3 for both

These were originally $2 each, along with an Onimusha 3 guide, which I left behind. There were also a bunch of games at this sale, and a couple Blu-rays, but nothing I was interested in. The SH games themselves, unfortunately had been sold off long ago. I think I've already got the SH2 guide, but the SH3 guide is my first, and I couldn't be happier.

    Steel Battalion controller, $5

This is my second Steel Battalion controller. I think my other one has blue buttons, so this one's a little different. Unfortunately, this one is missing the little screws that hold the 3 blocks in place; when sitting on a table, everything stays together, but you can't pick it up all in one piece very easily. It is also missing the little flap that goes over the Eject button. I have no idea where my Steel Battalion disc is, so I can't test this right now, but it looks to be in okay shape.

PS3 Little Big Planet (complete), $13
    PS2 Silent Hill 2 (complete), $2

LBP was originally $15. Seller said yes to $13 so fast, I wish I'd gone lower. Oh well, still seems like a good price. I mostly got this one for my wife, as she dabbles in all sorts of design, and I thought she might get a kick out of it. I popped it in and it seems okay.

SH2 came from a stack of PS2 games, 90% of which were sports. Now I just need SH2 Greatest Hits and I'll have every US PSX/PS2/XB entry of the first 4 games in the series.

NES Jaws, 1943, Adventures of Bayou Billy, Chip & Dale: Rescue Rangers, Captain Skyhawk, Track & Field, Destination Earth Star, Donkey Kong Classics, Dr. Mario, Home Alone, Super Mario Bros. 3, Laser Invasion, Tecmo Super Bowl, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Time Lord, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Top Gun, 3 sleeves, $15 for all

NES Rescue: The Embassy Mission, Simpsons: Bart vs. the World, Super Spy Hunter, Star Tropics, Tiny Toon Adventures 2: Trouble in Wackyland, The Untouchables, 3 sleeves, $10 for all

    NES Total Recall
GG Tempo Jr., $5 for both

I only needed a handful of those NES games in the first bunch, but the seller said they were $5 a piece unless I took all of them. I asked how much the whole pile was and he said $15. WHATEVER.

GEN Evander Holyfield Boxing, Power Rangers, X-Men, $1.50 for all

PSX NFL GameDay 2000, Final Fantasy VIII (missing discs 3 & 4; all were in the same case), $1

XB Star Wars Battlefront II (disc only), $1

PSX Vagrant Story (missing manual and demo disc)
PSX Resident Evil 2 (missing manual), $7 for both

    NES AC adapter
GEN Genesis (Model 2/3) RF adapter, $3 for both

    Lexicon LDD-1 AC-3/RF Demodulator, $8

Finally. FINALLY. I have been searching for an LD RF demodulator for ages. If any of you know what this does, you know people aren't exactly giving them away. Except for this one! Plugged it in, works like a dream, and despite the flash in my photo bringing out some flaws in the surface, it's in wonderful condition.

I was in Ohio for about a week visiting family. My cousin up there just graduated from high school. That makes the whole current generation family high school graduates! But yeah, I have some Genesis finds:

    Power Base Converter: $20
    Separation Anxiety: $2.50
    Light Crusader: $5
    Vectorman 2: $2.50
6-button controller (late model, looks like 3-button controller... non-working): $1
    Wonder Boy 3 - Dragon's Trap: $12

All from a few game/movie shops in Lakewood.
