    Default SNES DOOM- different?

Hey- I've got the Jaguar version of Doom, which is fine, but the SNES one is only $5. Does the SNES version have exclusive levels, or are they mostly the same from one system to the next?

I don't think there are any exclusive levels in SNES Doom, but then again I never got very far with it. The SNES version of Doom is, in my humble opinion, the worst version made for any platform except possibly the 3DO which is also a disaster.

Hmm, not even worth $5, eh? I saw in an eBay auction description the SNES game has 59 levels (compared to Jag's 23 or 24)? Is that right?

I guess if I'm used to the Jag game, the SNES would be a step down...

It might look like shit, but I love the fact that Nintendo got the SNES and the Super FX2 chip working enough to get DOOM running.

Methinks that person needs to go out and get some sun. He/she probably has the doom logo permanently tanned/imprinted on their face from voluminious amounts of playing all Dooms.

Heh. To be fair, he seems really nice and is quite helpful. We all have our obsessions. He just documents his, and we benefit.

    Snes Doom is.....OK.

I got it originally because at the time I had no PC...It was the only way I could play Doom...and it done the job, It was better than no Doom.

Then I got a PS and PS Doom....Didn't play the Snes one again.

I'm a bit of a Doom obsessive as well....I've got it on PC, Playstation, Saturn, Jag, 3DO, N64, Snes and GBA.

Its worth $5 just to see doom running on a 16 bit machine!

The one good thing about Doom is the music. Though you could just get the .spc files and play it on Winamp with the proper plugin.

    Here, a quote:

o A Super NES Control Deck, model SNS-001, equipped with one standard Super NES
controller (model SNS-005), was used as the test system for the SNES Doom
game described in this document. For testing multiplayer games, the system
was connected to various similar systems via the X Band network, using a
Catapult X Band modem device (model 00100).
    Yikes.

That's even crazier than the time I transcribed the labels from one of those hotel SNES machines (controllers took a phone jack, heh)..!

Let me be one of the only people to defend the SNES doom..

It's a 32 bit game on a 16 bit system and to me that's AMAZEING!

I mean really at face value it's crap compared to the PC version.

    But look a little deeper a 3-d FPS on a SNES...jeez. :/

I don't think anyone would argue that it's a tremendous accomplishment. My point is that it's a terrible GAME.

Anyone have a side by side screenshot comparison for all the versions of Doom? I'd like to see that.
