Hey, I need to find a Sega MK-4122 AC adaptor for my CDX, Ive searched and searched for weeks but cant find anything >.<
Help?
Just get a Canon AD-150 power supply, it's the exact same specs that you need and is easier and cheaper to get.
yeeeeaaah, im a collector and I want to have a complete console so I want to find the original PSU. I currently have a multi adaptor that works for it.
Have you tried Left Coast Games (Sega-Parts) http://www.leftcoastgames.com/produc...866b4c054dc61f ?
Left Coast games actually doesn't have CDX power supplies. Tried getting one about 2 years ago from them and they just sent me a model 2 Genesis adapter, then they tried giving me the old "well it plugs into the CDX so it should work" line.
yeah i called left coast games too and asked them about it and they told me it was a generic adaptor, not the OEM CDX adaptor.
Join the club, it's nearly impossible to find for a good price. On Ebay I remember seeing one going for $40 or so. If you really want the original adapter you'll have to search around for either another SEGA CDX or checking out resale shops' power cords. I never seem to find them at game stores either. They usually will just try and get you the Genesis 2 power cord.
I have a sig?
Id be willing to drop 40$ for one considering i got the system for 110$.
For anyone thinking of using the Model 2 Genesis AC adapter it does work but watch out for overheating.
Using a Genesis 2 PSU on a CDX is a very good way to smoke it. IIRC, the CDX draws either 1A or 1.5A and starving it for current just creates that much more heat, which will eventually smoke components in your system. I bought a used CDX a couple years ago that needed a round of electrolytics changed out as well as some resistors on account of someone using a Genny 2 PSU with it. I found out the hard way what it does.
"needed a round of electrolytics changed out"
give it some gatoraide!
I have one of these, but no CDX to test it on. Is it okay to test it on a Genesis Model 2, or could that cause problems?
That's not true at all. Using a CDX power supply with a model 2 Genesis is no problem. The Genesis will only draw as much power as it needs. This is true for any power supply. As long as the voltage is very close to spec you don't have to worry about the amperage as long as it's higher rather than lower.
Well that's good to know then, thanks for clearing that up.
Scizzors is selling me his CDX adaptor. thanks for the help guys. appreciated.
I'm looking for this same adaptor. Not to climb on the back of someone else's hard work but is there a soul out there with another one of these? Thanks!
